Would anyone like to share ideas for boy embellishments?

I am kind of tired of stars and circles. I am looking for stuff I could make. I dont mind buying a stamp set, punch or dies to make them...

I did just go to a stampin up party and bought the scallop punch and a large circle punch as well as the big pieces stamp set, but they have not come in yet. These will all coordinate for some cute circular shapes, (I have a girl too) but it is more circles.

I have a boy and a girl. I like to use a lot of initials as embellishments. I use a "J" every now and then on my son's pages, but my daughter loves her "E" so much it's on every page, somewhere.

Thought about sports ball buttons? MM makes sports ball embellies for about $4/pack. If you have a circle cutter you can cut the circle and then draw the appropriate lines for the ball (basketball, baseball, etc.) There are also little car embellies, car chipboard. I bought some a while back at M's. (It was on clearance, so it might not be there anymore.)

You could use tags made from scraps and use a coordinating ribbon on them to make them boy-ish. Or just use boy ribbon as an embellie. I like square brads, too. I think the metal ones just give a kinda masculine look.

I use a lot of stars too! arrows, any buttons, stitches stamps, I have a ek corner punch that I also use as arrows. I also use tons of brads, ribbons, and love any journaling stamp by Autumn Leaves . Feel free to check out my gallery for ideas I have two boys.

I use lots of stars and circles too since I mostly scrapbook my son. I like arrows and turtles and frogs also and bought doe cuts of those. One of my scrapbook buddies has used flowers in some of her layouts of her son and husband and it looks great. I also use ribbon and slides.

i usae brads, ribbion.. but i also use flowers just i used them in green,blue,yellow, white.. brown. my kids are not into anything so themed stuff is not really a chioce around here

I use tags, flowers, you name it. Check out my gallery. I have one son, so if I want to try a technique the LO needs to hold it!

I've got 4 boys and I get tired of the stars and circles too. I do use ribbon and fibers. I'll use the occasional flower but keep it in the "boy" colors. I use metal accents whenever I can.

I'll be watching this thread...thanks for asking the question.

i use everything unless it's pink or a girlish color. i like using stitching, i love stamping ink on the pages and making them look "dirty" if they're playing outside.

i have two boys and two girls. i think my boy layouts are more toward the middle of my gallery if you want to check them out.

I have a grandson and granddaughter, and I run into this problem as well. I've used ric-rac, boy ribbon, stencils and brads. I've got a cricut so I use some of the animals too. I now have a stencil that I can make fold-y things with a brad in the middle and those really look cool on a boy page.

This is a great thread! I use anything as long as it is the right color..oh, and as long as it isn't like Barbie pp or something. lol

Start a new trend and use like puppy dogs or turtles instead of all the little birds that are on layouts! Hee hee...

What about sharks, snakes, lizards (I am partial to lizards and turtles), fish, and frogs?

Oh trains, planes, cars, boats, space ships, and rockets.

Flames, lightening bolts, ZIG zags of some sort.

Masculine colored ribbon, flowers, and gems.

Another cute idea is to use a buckles from the fabric store. Thread through ribbon to look like overall straps or belts.

Great ideas everyone, Thanks! I will be putting some of these to use. I did order something yesterday. It is one of those big hand-held stamps that have letters that turn to make various words. It can stamp up to 12 letters. I figured I could stamp little words on paper or chipboard and then emboss or cover w/ mod podge.

I think the screw head brads are very boyish as is twine used as a ribbon. A use for diffent size circles would be to make them into puppy paw prints, which are very boyish. JM2C

I am working on a book for my son right now... it is a theme book.

The theme is my husband drew mustaches on the kids faces and they were posing for the camera..... I love these pictures... I took a whole roll of film on them....

I just got some great brads from Ebay. (I love that place) I got some that look like Legos and some that are Dump Trucks. Very cute.

I like the more whimsical stamps and die for boys...at least my DS is pretty goofy so they fit him well. Trains, cars, animals (love the Cuttlekids animal die.. they are so cute), space shuttle, planets Oh sea creatures too, since he loves swimming... starfish, shellfish, dolphin, all kinds of fishes....

He's not playing any sports yet, but I have some MM kids buttons that Ria mentioned.... I like MM so I have their masculine MM Kids lines including the paper, ribbons , stickers & buttons, and also some BG paper like the Mellow line...

I have two boys and find it hard sometimes too...you can check out my gallery. I try to use newer things ..only boys style.

MM makes screw-head snaps! They're awesome!

My Jory loves tigers, so I try to find tiger embellies and use those. (BTW, AOT? Have to tell you that Jory calls MU "The Missouri Baby Tigers." He loves tigers so.) I'm thinking that when I eventually invest in the Cricut, that the cart with Belle, Jasmine, and Rajah will be good because I can embellish Jory-pages with Rajah.
