Gabriella started trowing up again ... so its official she has SEI zures in her stomach since the treatment doesn't work ...

I cant wait to go to Boston and have the doctors look at her ... there are so many limits to what we can do over the phone ...

Hee hee.. DH is the small group leader for our group. Before that, he was the leader of a group who had a hard time transitioning to small group... anyway, at some point, 2 families split off, and we made the painful decision to move our small group to coincide with our Friday AWANA time because of the distraction from the kids... and 4 families split off into another group.

We usually get everybody together on Easter and on Thanksgiving. We used to hold monthly fellowships at our home for about 20 adults and 18 kids..... this is now only twice a year... a lot less than what we've been handling before...

Anyway, long story short, this is a time we can get everyone together and have some fellowship. I think I should be able to do it. I'm asking for a potluck this time (!) so we'll just take care of the meat dishes and have everyone bring their side dish. Last time we ended up with 10 desserts..

But this year, both DH and I are taking the week off before this..so it should be more manageable. I hope he gets better by then...

And you're talking about ME... one of my college room-mate once called me 'History's first Asian Bimbo'. 99% of the time, I'm ok... really , I am.. but that 1% is what kills me. I have some dumb blond moments beyond description.

I had an Oscar post earlier that was probably lost, there are a few I've added to my list.. I'll wait for the DVD to appear so I can add it to my Netflix queue... Sometimes DH and I are too tired at nite to even watch DVDs....

We should pace ourselves.. DH is more ambitious than me...

OK, thread hijack completed!

I made Russian Borsch (modified for DH's specific taste.. and he said he's not picky ) Just need to cook some pasta and we've got a good pasta soup.

DH has the flu ... doctor confirmed. And he only wants soup. And not creamy soup, but clear soup. And I can't make them too Chinese otherwise the kids won't drink them. So I made mushroom and 'monkey head mushroom'(it's a mushroom, just to clarify and not scare everyone off) chicken soup, which the kids love. Last nite I made a big pot of Russian Borsch.. I hope it lasts for 2 days.

Yeah ... The doctors were ready for this and gave me a medication thats given to people during chemo and helps with this .... but that means 4 more tablets to take I think we are up to over 30 a day ... that is so much for a 8 year old ...

I finished a layout that I have been working on for a L-O-N-G time. It took me way too long. But it was the thinking about it and planning and trying to find a way to let it express what the photo makes me feel.

I think I captured it. Of course I could not get a picture or scan of the page that really looks the way it does in person - but it's close enouhg. So I'm uploading it now.

Ohmygosh. My hubby has been tracking our spending on Quicken for so long, I don't even remember when he started it. It does get a bit annoying having to hand over receipts to him (and it's REALLY tough trying to buy him any surprises for his bday or Christmas!), but for the most part, I appreciate the job he does handling our money. Even a "tight" month to him just means the savings account is lower than he is comfortable with.

I have a separate small account at a credit union plus my rather large change jar that I use for gifts for dh. Or I'd take cash out of the bank and he'd not see the receipt or online debit card purchase. Where there's a will...

My dh is the same way. When our account gets low (usually his doing) we both buckle down and get it back up. I make small purchases here and there but he's the one that will spend $500 or more at time. That is after we both agree so it's not like I wasn't prepared for it either.

I'm really wanting to order this http://www.kasbahouse.com/villawareonline/oildispensers.asp. The thing is that I might as well order two since shipping will only a $1 more. But I really want to find it locally. Which means a drive to an area of town, I don't like to go to. It's in the college area and a pain to park, and pricey. Stupid of me to get worked up over such a silly thing but this is to show how I can get about purchases.

Yep, I almost convinced myself that I'd order two and give one away as a gift but I know better. I'd use one for cooking grade olive oil and one for salad grade EVOO. Maybe another for Canola? Hmm.... It's a sickness.

Royal courts, kings, queens, the need for an heir, religious conflicts, trade conflicts, wars, scandalous affairs, ... from Henry VIII to Bloody Mary to Elizabeth's Golden era, that part of history is better than any novel....

I've gotten to where I'll just hold on to the receipts, tell him he doesn't get to see them until afterward, and he has to deal with having gaps in his info for a week or so. OR I'll go somewhere that's kind of an all-purpose place (or order from online through some clearing house), so that even if he sees where and how much, it won't necessarily tip him off as to what he's getting.

It helps that he is having massive headaches, dizziness, constant pain in his throat... etc...

Unfortunately, the dr said, "Flu" and gave him nothing. Poor guy... I'm in no condition to 'take care of him'since I'm barely better than him. But the soup I made helped. I hope....

He's good... I used to do it once a month.. but I've been slacking lately. I haven't done it since Sep... Well, for some accts only.

I asked DH to use credit card for his purchases so I can d/l them from the card's website. We always pay off our CC bills so there's no problem with using CC. OUr bank also allow us to d/l transactions wtih Quicken.. but the drawback is that we lose the check info... and the paycheck is not broken down into categories (which is right for the bank)...

So I'll have to ask DH for his checkbook to see what the checks are for, and his pay stmt to see how much of the salary was with-held for various taxes, DSA, 401K, insurances, blah blah blah blah.

I asked him to pay all utilities and most of his transactions with Billpay. That way, the payee info is visible in Quicken.

I can't say I'm good with finances, because I can't control DH and now for the 1st time in my life, I've spent quite a bit on sb. But I am good with RECORDING.

Last year, in order to get one of those 'benefit' or tax break that only accountants and few well-informed folks know about.. my acct had to ask me about my charitable donations in 97. I brought my computer, so I opened up that spreadsheet and told him the #.

He's a calm man with little words. He said:
"I have to tell you, I am impressed".

My DH rolled his eyes to the back of his head.

Then comes in Elizabeth, who really shouldn't have survived her childhood. Incredible that she wasn't poisoned or pushed from a balcony somewhere. Her life was alway tenuous at best.

She implements such smart little things, like Fish Fridays. With no navy to really speak of, she enlists the help of "pirates" like Raleigh and others.

It was only the Hand of God that kept the Spanish Armada from wiping out England and dethrowning Elizabeth. Yet she reigned for 50 years!! Turned the nation into a world power, even!!!

Having no heir, King James of Scotland takes the thrown. Does he sound familiar? He should, we get our King James Bible from him!!! Though he wasn't a religious man himself, he saw the need for an English Bible and hired the top linguists of that day!

None of this would have been possible if not for the lusts of King Henry VIII.
