ATG vs. Glue Glider

I'm thinking about buying one of these next weekend. I've been holding off on it b/c the idea of using such a large tape gun is sort of weird to me. However, the price is so much better that I am starting to come around to the idea of it.

I just don't know which one to get and what the differences between these two are. Obviously brand difference, price difference, etc. I'm curious about experiences with them. Have you gals noticed any draw backs or serious benefits that one has over the other? TIA.

I'm sort of leaning towards the ATG b/c it has a narrower tape (1/4") and the cost of the tape itself is a better value.

I have the ATG. You get more per refill roll than you do with the Glider. Plus you have less trash in the end, too, with the ATG.

I don't have the Glider so I can't speak of if you break a roll while in use. With the ATG, I've only broken one roll out of over 3 dozen. I just restrung it and kept on going.

In the end, the ATG is cheaper to use per lengths.

I have both and I am going to be brutally honest about this.

1. The ATG is less expensive in the long run.
2. The ATG is big, but light weight
3. They both distribute adhesive easily and smoothly
4. The Glue Glider Pro is small and easier for me to use
5. The Glue Glider Pro takes up MUCH LESS space on my scrap table

I like the Glue Glider Pro much better because of its handy size. Right now I'm using my ATG for bigger things and the Glue Glider Pro for the smaller things. I found refills for the GGP at a bargain price on the auction site, so I stocked up, but who knows if I will find them at that price again.

Below are the two products I am comparing:

I have the ATG 50 (a knock off of the Scotch ATG), I love it.

Yes when I first saw it I thought there's no way I could use it but it's so light weight that I don't notice it.

The tape lasts a long time. I'm still on the first roll though looking at it I'd have gone through at least one roll of my old adhesive maybe one and a half.

I've used the ATG on ribbon without a problem and a little on flowers to make them stick.

I'm left handed so that was a big concern with the ATG for me, I have no problems using it at all.

I have never tried the Glue Glider so I'm no help there.

The little one is cute. I was tempted by its size. What price did you find them for on the auction site, Kathie?

I think for ease of use the glue glider max is better since there's no threading but for cost the ATG is better.
As for the glue glider pro it is not cost effective but I love it, it's just cute.

My favorite is the Glue Glider pro, only because of size and really quick adhesive changes.

I've use the Glue Glider Pro and just ordered my first ATG gun which I should be getting any day now. So I'll let you know how I like it. I loved the GGP, but the adhesive just didn't last me as long as I'd hoped. I did like the size and it was just too easy replacing the cartridge. The reason I got the ATG was for the larger quantity of tape per refill. I've heard lots of good thing about it in spite of its size so I'm hoping it lives up to that!

I've never used the ATG, but I have a Glue Glider Pro and it has been the answer to all my adhesive problems! I am a MORON when it comes to threading refills. The Glue Glider Pro is incredibly easy to refill--you just pop in the cartridge without opening ANYTHING or threading ANYTHING!! I could not justify the cost of the ATG, and I get the refills for my Glue Glider Pro at Hobby Lobby using the 40% off Coupons . The one thing I would recommend, if you go with the Glue Glider, is that you only buy the permanent adhesive refills, rather than the repositionable ones. Not that the repositionable ones don't stick well, but to me they are kind of stringy or something--harder to work with than the permanent ones.
