Layouts without making the page too crowded, any ideas?

I'm new (2-3yrs exp) at scrapbooking. I've been having trouble finding alternatives methods for pages in my Disney scrapbbok. I have many photos and I would like to use many of them. Does anyone have advice for multiple photo layouts without it looking to clutterd or crowded?

Welcome!

Don't scrap all of them.
Use page protectors for the "extra" photos.

I did a holiday book and I decided in an advance on a very simple style (rounded corners and a simple tag shape for title/journaling) and a minimalist colour scheme then did the whole book in that way.

I tend to put a lot of photos on each page and have the same struggles with not having it look too crowded or cluttered. What works for me: cropping photos down; using a very minimal amount (if any) of patterned paper so that the photos don't compete; and keeping embellishments very simple and sparse. I second Linda's idea for the page protectors.

Also, when I scrap multiple photos I found that using a grid-style tends to make it look less cluttered.

You can make photo collages using photo editing software too to shrink photos down to a smaller size and have several printed out at once.

grids and cropping are your friends when you are using many photos on a page. I also agree with minimal pp and embellies...Also, I am huge fan of "hidden" Pictures. I use flaps and envelopes on my pages to put pictures in that relate to the same page but maybe aren't the best or just would clutter my page up too much...

I am leaning (slowly) to not use zoom for every picture. That way I can make them smaller. Also, find a photo developer that will run 2x3's or smaller. I love doing that for my Disney albums. That way I can get all the fun details in my book. I have made over 300 pages of Disney pages (quite a few trips and albums) and we are going back in July.

I found that I was cropping most of the photos. Now I develop them at the photo kiosk on collage and print four to a photo. I also scraplift and find a lot of pagemaps with multiple pictures.

Hi. You can also create an expandable pop out that holds several photos or even just cut out the images and place them in between squared photos (like a collage. That way you can fit more into them. Hope that helps.

I did not read all the replies but I find that if I make one larger photo a focal point then use smaller wallet sizes for the others it works out.

Or just make lots and lots of LOs. There's one artist on here: godschild94. You should check out her gallery because she does tons Disney LO's. I like how she might have a LO centered around a ride in the park. You can find a lot of inspiration in her gallery.

I agree with the cropping suggestion, but if it were me, I'd probably just end up making a zillion layouts, haha!

I echo cropping, but I also love Bxr-Linda's idea of using the photo protectors for the extras.

I also rely on a lot of Page Maps for multi photos to make it all pretty. Then again, I've only be scrapping for a year now; I need all the help I can get!

For an event with lots of photos I print a lot of 2x2, 3x3 photos and use one photo to highlight, and small accent photos. But it sounds like most of your photos are already printed 4x6? If not, perhaps you can crop smaller.

it's not the best time wise, but i make more lo's..lol. i put only a few pics on a lo. for example, instead of an overall disney treat lo, i am breraking it up treat by treat such a a page for churros, another for ice cream, etc. if i have just too many (like for parades...i pretty much got scene by scene shots lol) i am doing either hidden pictures, resizing or cropping, or page holders with just picture (like the we are memory keepers ones mentioned above)

I love taking lots of pics and using lots of pics in my los - especially Disney! Feel free to check out my gallery, I just finished a Disney ABC album last year (oops, almost put this year - forgot we're in a new year now!)

You can also check out http://www.scrapbook.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/14656... - our members routinely use lots of pics in their pages. Maybe some galleries there would help you as well.

I've also started to do what someone else mentioned - I don't crop my pictures too closely with the photo editing software before I print them so that I've got room to trim them down and fit more on a page.

All of my photos are on several different memory cards for my digital camera. Thank you for your suggestion! They are well appreciated!
