Stickles vs other brand

anyone feel that there is a justifiable difference. LSS has another brand larger bottle, glitter seems to be as fine and as glittery but for 1/2 the cost.
Anyone feel that off brands are as good as Stickles? TIA

To me, Stickles are Stickles and everything else is just glitter glue. I only buy Stickles.

It isn't JUST the glitter, it is the glue and the applicator as well that is better!

I use both and I really don't find any difference in the application. I did buy the kids glitter glue once and that kinda sucked because it would dry up in the nozzle.

I got three bottles of Stickles in my Christmas swap box and so far I like them a lot. I have a little trouble but I know it's me, not the product as my hands tend to shake badly at times.

Definately STICKLES! They are faster drying, and better application than any others I have tried!

I have some hampton arts and it is really runny and not as glittery. I gave it to DD and never went with a off brand again.

oh good to know, the ones in my lss look exactly the same including the bottle. I looked really close to see if the glitter was as fine and it was. But you brought up some good points. Thanks for the feedback.

Stickles are the best in my book...I have purchased some Studio G glitter glue and it's just not the same. So I will be saving those for my son's art projects.

i just tried studio g glitter glue out of the dollar bins at J's and love them. they have a pretty fine tip and apply just as well. plus, it fits in my budget better!

I have tried others but prefer Stickles and Tim Holtz's distress stickles for a chunkier look.

They really seem the same to me. I don't have any of the Studio G ones but I have some 'bobo' brands I got at lss. They worked fine for me.

I like to use the studio G from the dollar bins @ J's for covering a large area and laying flat. Stickles doesn't "lay down" and is better for detail rather than smearing over the whole thing.

I use both. I have more of the Studio G than Stickles simply because I'm cheap and don't do much detail with glitter.

Get one of each and test it out is what I'd say.

I can tell you that I do NOT like the kids glitter glue as it does chunk up in the tip and make a mess when it "pop" loose.

I found that some of the off brands just aren't SHINY once they dry,,,,,,they look fine when wet,,,,,then what a massive disappointment when dry,,,,,

oh I will have to look I bet they were Studio G because they were in a $1 bin near the stamps. Gonna buy a few and compare.
I agree some things you just can't sub on.

I've always used Kindyglitz, I don't see Stickles in shops over here very often.

I just became a stickles "hoarder"! LOL! I used them for the first time on a Technique Tuesday layout and am now in LOVE! I went out and bought about 15 different bottles in a rainbow of colors! Oh the madness....it never ends! ROFL!

Wow great info ladies. I was wondering about this too....glad to hear Stickles dries faster.

I've used 'off' brands and have had 'so-so' results... but like someone said,
"Stickles is Stickles".

I have used both, and noticed that the "non stickles" glitter glue did not stay puffy like stickles does. Once it dries, it's just flat glitter.

But I do think it is trial and error, because not every glitter glue is going to give the same results, stickles or off brand.

So I agree that it'd be best to buy one bottle of stickles, and then start experimenting with different off brands to see how they work.

I am VERY thrifty when it comes to scrapbooking, but I wouldn't give up my stickles for anything!

I also tried my DDs Crayola glitter glue sticks - stuck in tip and spurt, all over. Never again. Always Stickles for me. I will keep my eye open for Studio G and pick one up and do a side by side test at some point. Interesting...did not know they existed

just used it for the first time yesterday. i really liked it. the only difference i saw was the consistency but this difference makes it worth it. although to me these are way cheap. i only paid a dollar a bottle. was well worth the investment.

I love stickles ! My new favorite is the Distress Rock Candy. It is clear and you use it differently than normal. If you have a paper/cardstock embellie and you cover the whole thing with Rock Candy once it dries it looks crackled and aged.

here's my take. I have tried the elmers glue with glitter (hate it). Regular glitter glue didn't give me the look i was wanting. stickles aren't so expensive that I can't buy them. i get them for 1.99 a bottle, so I figure that this is one brand that i will continue buying until i can no longer afford that brand. it's worth the extra money to get a quality product when i am preserving memories that will be given as a wedding gift to my children in say 20 years. i want it to be beautiful when they receive them.
