Album question

I am in need of advice on what type of albums everyone uses. I have the postbound albums, but i can nevery figure out how to use the extenders and i just cant stand them. I need an album that I can put alot of pages in (i have yearly family albums and yearly kids albums) I bought Pioneers Snapload albums last year, and I really like them, but I can only find the album and extra pages at J's. Wondering if there is anything good here at the superstore. thank you guys!

You can purchase the snap load things here in the superstore, then convert any type of post bound album you find.

I was using post bound also, but now, I'm going to be using the D ring albums... most likely the American crafts albums.

I use these albums with these page protectors. (psst...they're usually cheaper at joann's website when they have a sale)

I love my postbound but I just get a pack of extra long posts (not extenders) and I can fit tons of pages. I think I got the post on ebay or another site

postbound make me crazy,,,,,,,,searching for a D ring now,,,,,but they do not sell them at J's or M's that I can find and I like to see and FEEL before buying,,,,,,enough to make me crazy,,,

Too funny. I spent months a few years ago converting every album to posts.

And here are my reasons snaps break. They pop open at random. Snaps don't let extra pages sit flush.

They tear plastic pockets, and make albums look sloppy. And people point it out;
'What is wrong with this album? See if I pull on this page... it's tears right out. Sorry about that you can fix it right?'

I've lost several pockets that way before I moved exclusively to posts and hardly any more issues.

Except finding the correct sized extender for the album I have. Now that's a different issue. And I can totally understand you wanting to try snaps I wouldn't recommend it in the long run though not if you want to make an album bigger.

I my personal experience if you take a 10 page album and add a couple of pages ok but increase the size to 15-20 pages get another album. Or use posts.

And for archival reasons anything which encourages play on the page ages it more. I have vintage albums from the 50's 70's the ones which have posts in them look brand new ones with the ones without posts look like they have been mauled they have more tears more dog ears.

Can you tell I really like posts? (And yes they are incredibly insanely frustrating.)

My local scrapbook store carries them. I don't know of any other national retailers.

I have just purchased several (6) we r memory keepers albums 3 three ring and 3 post bound. I love the construction of the albums which i personally think is superior to other brands and same with the protectors which are thick and sturdier than most. I do however have an issue with their post bound extenders which do not fit their own posts at all. I believe i will have to just go to the snap loaders sold here but am awaiting word from WRMK as to how they expect to address this issue.

The only kind I use are the post albums. And all but a couple are Pioneer. I have used the extenders on several and so far I haven't had any bad experiences with them.

i have post bound,and just found some amazing d ring,and my pages are so bulky that i think i need to convert to them completely

The only type I have ever used is post-bound, and I love them. I've never had any trouble with any of them, not even the post extenders.

I've always used post bound, but am seriously considering changing to 3ring binders. Some of my albums are pretty thick.

i have just found out something that has made life a whole lot easier for me as far as the WRMK post bound albums extenders go. there are actually TWO types of extenders...aluminum and stainless steel. my albums had SS posts and i had aluminum extenders...they never fit. How did I know i had aluminum extenders when the package never had any label as such?...I used a magnet. I just bought a new set of extenders and a set of super long posts, not extenders and the package said clearly STAINLESS STEEL...guess what? they fit my post bound album posts.
on another thought. it is a royal pain in the neck to undo the posts and add or subtract pages...the D ring (3 ring) are much easier to work with. However, since i have the post albums i'll work with the first, finish them up and never worry about them again

I have also used the post bound style for some time now, I couldn't stand the extender posts.I always had to bug my husband to help me. Then I found out about the 3-ring binder style! Now my husband is happy which makes me happy!

J's has them in the photo album section. Pioneer brand ones, but they dont come with any protecters. Our local M's have them in the recollection brand, in red, brown, and black. They also occasionally get making memory brand ones that coordinate with paper. the last ones I saw were the autumn splendor, and before that the chloe's closet.

I'm seriously considering converting to D-ring. Or just buying D-ring from now on. I was also thinking of maybe having post-bound for my 2-pagers, and D-rings for everything else. Oh the possibilities are endless!!

I'm glad this thread was revived because I found this info very helpful. I'm curious if there are any brands of D-ring binders that have page protectors that are too small? I've run into this problem with post-bound albums and now only ever buy colorbok.

D-ring binders will take any post-bound page protectors that have 3 holes for the most part.
I have everything from CTMH, Club Scrap to C-line in mine and they all seem to work.
I like CTMH for the sturdiness and they seem to work with my bulky pages really well.
Anyone else have really bulky pages and can suggest a brand that is really sturdy?

a subject close to my heart...no pun intended...I agree with legomom about CTMH protectors...i don't know if they are made by WeRMemoryKeepers but they seem to be as sturdy as the WRMK's line. I have three post albums and say "never again". the D ring (or the good old 3 ring binder style) is much more preferred by me because I can add pages here and there and remove pages as the need may be. Especially dear to me now are the page protectors that WRMK have now with all sort of 4 x 6 slot configurations. Ideally you can have a 12 x 12 whole page scrapped followed by several pages with coordinating photos slipped into the slots and journaling, embellishments, etc in the photo slots.
i hope i'm making sense...but if you look on the scrapbook.com superstore for WRMK's products you will see what i mean.

I just bought my first D-ring after a thread on here where I asked about 3D embellies... I couldn't figure out how people were able to have such huge embellies in a post bound.

Anyhoo, I bought the AC customizable 8.5 by 11 album from here to do my sister's baby memory album. I am hooked! I'll use up the rest of my post-bounds (of which I have a few!!), but I'm not going to worry about extending any. They come with 10 page protectors and that's what I'll fill. Once done with that, I'll transition to the D-rings.

Love that WRMK has that 4 by 6 protectors for the 12 by 12 albums. Would they fit in an AC album, ya think?

bulletin bulletin bulletin...after I said how much I loved the WRMK's line of d-ring page protector photo configurations... I found another set of album protectors at a scrapbook store, Ruban Rouge in Tampa...by Bazzill call Lickety Slip. I liked the fact that they had pages (12 x 12) with four landscape slips and 2 portrait slips.. It would be so cool if these fit in the WRMK albums or whatever D ring albums you all are using...

I finally gave up on all those straps, screws, extenders!! Do yourself a favor and get yourself a 3 ring binder... you'll never go back to the hassle of those tiny screws again!

I love the post bound albums and usually will put in extra pages and longer posts, before I even put in lo pages...works for me and that way I have 40 layouts to a book. I only do this in my own albums not something I have been asked to design for someone else.

I use D-ring album, I've tried to use post-bound but I don't like them..

I think these do fit in the We R Memory Keepers albums.

And, WRMK has a big selection of protectors with different orientations. I love them for those 'extra' photos you don't want to scrap.

here's another bulletin...the WRMK page protectors fit in American Craft D ring albums. Still looking for lickety slip page protectors locally but right now awaiting a huge pile of page protectors ordered from scrapbook.com when they had the 25% off sale.
