Making a Box???

Does any one have instructions on how to make a box? I want to try to make the Conversation Tary and Cubes. I was thinking of making it out of wood but I am thinking it might be too heavy!

here is a link for a template. i really like this idea, but spending over 20 bucks on some cardboard boxes seems a bit much to me. IMHO.
