Strand of Pearls

I need some assistance, please.

I am trying to put a string of pearls around a circle for a layout. I am using MS permanent craft glue but the pearls don't appear to be sticking very well.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what is best to use or is there some trick to getting them to adhere to the glue.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Anna,
In the jewelry business we use Crazy Glue. Just be careful not to get it on your fingers as it bonds almost instantly. Hope this helps you.

Glue dots!!!! I've had this problem before and the tacky glue and the crazy glue didn't work alone. I used a few glue dots to get the shape I needed and hold it there and then added a little craft glue. Hope this helps

I use Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky glue. It works really good on everything.

I use my hot glue gun.

Anna my friend I sew them on...yup lots of work but they sure stay.

I also use glue dots, you can get the lil ones.

I use "Scrappy Glue" by Magic Scraps- i believe they used to sell it here in the superstore ( last i ck'd it didnt come up ) I always bought it at Archivers, but they too, dont carry it anymore. It is awesome glue tho, ck your LSS, they may carry it. I am down to 1/2 a bottle-gonna have to order online!

Tombow metal glue or glue dots!

last time i tried to adhere a bead with crazy glue it saturated into my cardstock and spread beyond the bead i was adhering. i had to start over. i would go with the glue dots or a scrapping glue.

I'm with some of the others - my very first thought was glue dots - they are great for adding embellishments

Ditto! BUT, is this a special strand of pearls that you want to keep? If not, you might check your LSS for packages of flat-sided pearl embellishments. Most of them are even self-adhesive, have a flat back, but the tops are round like pearls. I use them a lot. They would save you a lot of headaches!

I agree with dwelch. Martha Stewart has a set of flat-sided pearls. I get mine at M's and ACM.

Thanks ladies for all of your tips! I did not even think of glue dots.....duh! Such a no brainer! However, I went ahead with the MS permanent glue. The strand of pearls was from JoAnne's and they were already on a string. So I started all over and did just a few at a time, holding pressure on each section for several minutes before moving on to the next section. It took time, but they eventually stayed in place. This morning they seemed to be very secure. However, my circle of pearls is not perfect. This was my first time trying this but I will be better prepared the next time.

On my next scrap shopping trip, I will get some of the scrappy glue or crazy glue.

Hot glue gun. Always works...

glue dots can be rolled and stuck under small spaces like strings of pearls,,,,,,works beautifully,,,,,,just roll them right on the wax paper and off it comes Awesome

I would stitch them with thread between the pearls.

I would mark your circle with a pencil, pierce some holes in your paper at intervals, and stitch with a needle and thread.
