I usually try to sneak a brad on there somewhere. I'm suspicious of whether adhesives will really hold. I've had glue dots fail within a year and found acetate diecuts huddled at the bottom of a page protector.
The best way for me is not sticking with glue, but using some mechanical stuff like eyelets, brads, staples, stitching... I also made holes/slots in acetates and fixed them with ribbons through those holes.
Any glue I tried failed sooner or later %\ Or turned the acetate frosted or dissolved it =)))
So I'll check out the answers too!
Are you sure your embellishments are not self-adhesive?
I have a pack of Making Memories flowers that took me a long time to realize that they are self-adhesive (it's VERY difficult to peel the backing off too).
I usually use brads/eyelets/staples, etc as well. Though in a few areas I have used glue and hidden the area with the glue. I've also used glue dots behind some of the colored areas on the acetate. So far, those have held- but they're all less than a year old. Glue dots don't show at all.
ki gloo, glossy accents, run it through the xyron, brads, eyelets, staples...I've done it all. If you want a perfectly clear adhesion without using a brad or something, go with one of the first 2. They work GREAT! You just paint it on the whole back side of the acetate and put it on your page, make sure all air bubbles are out & let dry.
Have never used glossy accents, so I probably don't get it. Are they that sticky that they're able to adhere the acetate? Yet, they are visible, right? Can anyone show an example?

Glossy Accents is a liquid glue that dries clear, so I "paint" the back of my clear embellie with that stuff and a foam brush. When it dries, you can't really see it underneath, especially if you "paint" it on so the whole back is covered. I use it over and over for clear adhesion....it's my go-to glue.
I use Glossy Accents for everything too! I don't know how I scrapped without it! I definitely recommend it for gluing thicker acrylic pieces (like fragments).
For thinner acrylic items, I usually use a really strong spray glue and then roll a brayer over the embellishment to smooth it down or I run it through a xyron. Good luck!
Use the Best Glue Ever (yes, that's the name). Apply it to the entire embellishment instead of putting a dot on the paper. It dries VERY clear but if you put a dot on the paper and press the embellie, the dot spreads into a circle. If you look closely, you might be able to see it. If you put a light coating on the entire embellie, it will dry clear and invisible.
