Zip Dry

I keep hearing how great Zip Dry is to use so I finally opened up a bottle I had hanging around. I love it. But please tell me is this just rubber cement with a higher price tag and another name. It sure smells like it and acts like it.... Thanks

I believe it's similar to rubber cement; however, I don't think rubber cement is acid free, if that is a concern.

I don't think it is like rubber cement. It dries clear and flat with no gloss (unlike glossy accents, crystal laquer, etc)it doesn't wrinkle my paper, and it holds like crazy. I rarely every use glue dots anymore. This stuff just holds so much better.

I love my zip dry =] The only thing I dislike is that it's really thick and sometimes hard to even get out of my bottle. I'm wondering if maybe it's a faulty bottle? Does anyone else have this problem with theirs? I have the same problem with my making memories glitter gloss paint. Both bottles.

Same here...I love it, but despise having to dig the hardened "gunk" out of the applicator tip.

Make sure you clean your applicator tip before storing. Don't leave it on the bottle either.

That will cut down on the gunk.

I use mine for gluing the cats eye inkpads back to their case when the pad falls off.

Not even close! Rubber Cement does not have a permanent characteristic like Zip Dry, has way more nasty chemicals than Zip Dry and tends to be amber or brown while Zip Dry will remain clear.

Zip Dry is also super strong. On a piece of wax paper or aluminum foil, draw a circle with Zip Dry making sure you connect the ends. When dry it will be a rubber band, lots of stretch and lots of strength.
Kind of like rubber cement on steroids!

It is awesome stuff. The only problem is I tend to leave the cap off to finish what I am gluing and in that short of a time it dries up. Just remember to put the cap on as soon as you are done with it and you shouldnt have a problem. I have a needle handy at all times to clean out the opening.

Now that I had a half full bottle I see the remaining glue has gotten thicker EVEN with the screw on cap.
Once there is a lot of air in the bottle it must start to dry out inside the bottle. I can still use it but I better use it up quick.

I bought some and it has been a lot of work to maintain. I don't want to have to fuss with changing tops through out a project. It seems like if I don't put the regular Cap back every time I use it it dries really fast.

I absolutely love this stuff,but I always end up tossing the last 1/2 inch or so in the bottle,,,,considering I can get it for about 3 bucks a bottle with a coupon, though, I am more than happy with it. I DO wish they'd make the last 1/2 inch not thicken up so much though

We did a product review on Zip Dry, and found it to be a great adhesive for paper crafts. As others responded, Zip Dry holds up to all of its claims and has quite a few advantages over Rubber Cement. My mom and I came up with a great solution to that last 1/2 inch getting so thick at the bottom... We split the bottle. First when the original bottle gets too thick to use, we dump it out. Clean up the bottle real well. Then buy a new bottle and pour half of it in the old bottle. Then we each have one. Because their isn't as much inside, it gets used up faster (at least for us). We have done this twice now. I found it was hard to use when it was almost gone, difficult to get out.
