I currently have the Xyron 500 sticker machine. It's purple and can fit things that are 5 inches across.
I have never been impressed by it because it leaves balled up bits of adhesive everywhere. And when you pull it away from the backing often spider-webby strings of gooey adhesive come with it. Its especially bad when you are trying to use it with items that have holes (like the letter"O" or something).
When you pull your stuff out of the 500, there is no "cover" on the stickers. All that comes out is the backing paper (wax paper-ish) and the item.
A few weeks ago HSN was showing scrappy stuff and they featured the little Xyron X. I noticed that when a sticker comes out of the X, it comes out with the backing paper AND an overlay of some kind. I also looked very closely and didn't notice any issues with stringy adhesive or gooeyness in the open spaces of what they were adhering.
Do you guys know what I'm talking about? Is the X better than the 500 in terms of icky adhesive getting everywhere?
