Cutting with Cricut edge to edge??????

I put this same question on the cricut thread but not sure how many actually visit that thread.. I'm trying to cut now and will explain the situation and the situation I"ve always had since I bought the machine.

OK ladies. I've had my cricut for a few years now. BUT I've never been able to cut a true 12x12 paper.. Or a diecut that I want be as wide as 12 inches. On the mats they have alittle dotted line.. leaving it about 1/8 shorter than the true 12x12 size. If you have an image to cut... and it slightly bigger than that small dotted line, it cuts of the image you are trying to cut... right from that dotted line, Even though there is still about an 1/8 of an inch left till the edge of the mat on each side.

OK MY QUESTION!!! is there ... does anyone know, is it possible to set your margins alittle wider than that dotted line that appears on the cutting mats. I hate it when it cuts it off.. sometimes I just want it a tad bigger... for example.. i am trying to do a shadow of a shape.. and one edge is just over that dotted line on the mat... I can't move the shape over as its fulling within that dotted line. SO.. it cuts off the one edge of the image to a flat edge.
CAN THIS BE FIXED??? Please help if it can.. I've been looking and looking and can't seem to adjust the margins to do the full size of the mat. I'm hoping its just something simple that I missed.. Does ANYONE KNOW is this can be done??

if you have the gypsy you can get it to cut slightly larger,,,

other than that, the cricut does not cut 12x12,,,it cuts about 11.5x11.5.

AWWWW darn it... I was hoping that I was just missing something.. that i wasn't doing the right thing to get the full size. Well shoot! lol Thanks some much for your help. At least I know I can stop looking and looking and now come up with something else. Thanks for taking your time to answer my question. MUCH appreciated

I know, it stinks,,,,when you ask anyone how big it cuts, the answer is always 12 inches,,,but really, it's a bit smaller than 12 inches,,,,

I understand your frustration as well ... it's actually the only thing I don't like about the Cricut

Canadiancandy....You could load your shadow on a 12x24 mat and you would be able to get your full shape. Worth a try but it has worked for me!Good luck!

Thanks for your help. Faithful, I did try the shadow.. and even though when I put the example cut on..(just to look at what the cut will look like).. and it doesn't actually cut off at the line.. I thought I finally figured it out... but when I went to cut it.... it still cut the top and bottom edge straight. Ya that is kinda annoying, doesn't really make any sense why they would not cut edge to edge.. mat size. Maybe someday there will be the PERFECT machine out there. lol

even a 12X24 mat is going to cut at 11.5 or slightly less than 12 inches inches at the top and bottom,,,,,,

it's frustrating, I know, but not many machines cut larger than that,,,,,,

There ARE machines that will cut larger, but I don't think you are looking to spend $3000 on a plotter. LOL
