People talk here like they do with friends in person. They jump around and someone says something that sparks someone else's interest and the conversation is off and running. That does not bother me.

I agree - adhesives and patterned paper and organizing supplies are important subjects but how much can you talk about them? My paper trimmer is awesome to me, but I really don't have much to say about it, and a whole conversation talking about them is less than riveting after 4 or 5 pages.

Totally non-scrapbook related conversation that starts that way should be in NSBR - but when a thread takes a turn and goes in a different direction in General scrapbooking - I don't care.

And if someone wants to jump in and start drama - I'll give the floor to them. Best case scenario, its entertaining. Worst case scenario, I get bored with it and quit reading.

Summary - I think we probably should stick to topic, but when it gets off topic, I don't care.

On the birthday stats. In my entire life I have met two people who share the same birthdate as me.

One was born within 3 hours of me in another hemisphere which makes it a different calendar day. One actually shares the same calendar day again wrong hemisphere.

Some days seem to deny the stats. I'm ok with it. It makes me unique. The 20009 million people who have birthdays the day after mine and have their parties the same weekend. That I'm less okay with.
There is no way I can go to every single party.

I've only lurked on here up until now, but I agree.... I've frequented much more drama filled forums.... it really isn't too bad here. Sure, people get offtopic sometimes, but that happens in almost any social situation, especially among womenm which is what this the site is mostly made up of.

You are right Nikki - these boards are relatively low in the drama departments.

But have you noticed how many views the ones get where there is drama? WOW! It definitely "ups" the ratings!

And when somebody asks a question which is a bit off and nobody knows how to reply there can be 40+ views in a few minutes.

Sometimes all that is needed sometimes is for somebody to say please clarifiy your question.

Though I often just outright take my birthday off because it lands on a long weekend anyway.

My saving grace is that she always takes our birthday off so she could care less if I'm there that day.

I always thought it'd be cool to have your birthday around a long weekend/holiday weekend. Then you'd always have a long weekend near your birthday to do something fun.

Yep! I know I always have to peek at what's going on. Can't help it, I love drama on TV too (Real Housewives etc.). It makes me feel like my own life is all rainbows and cupcakes.

It is.

The only down side is if I want to have a party. Then the birthday has to be moved by several weeks.

I always get a day off for my birthday thanks to MLK! Not always on the exact day, but it's a 3-day weekend nonetheless and I often add a 4th day

Just a little. For my 40th (her 65th), she invited herself and FIL to come and stay with us in Singapore for 2 weeks. I was a bit miffed at first, but we took a trip to Borneo and on the day we walked up a mountain got caught in a mountain thunderstorm and saw a Rafflesia flowering. They're the biggest carnivorous flowers in the world, they're rare, they only flower once in about 10 months and they STINK. I think that was top trumps all round.

Hey, how far have I deviated from the original subject now? Do I get a prize for that?

I can't even imagine sharing a bday with my MIL ... it's bad enough we share the in-laws anniversary (even though they divorced years before dh and I married)

and I ALWAYS take my bday off, even though its our very busiest season at work

my sister's bday is Christmas Eve ...

but since we're Jewish it didn't necessarily mean she was gypped ...

however, it DID always mean that her bday celebration was Chinese food and a movie

My husbands aunt has 3 kids and I have 3 kids and our middle and youngest kids share birthdays. On the youngest ones b-day, there is another cousin that shares the day as well and a cousin on MY side of the family does too (those 2 were even the same year)!

My sister's fiance just took a new job - all employees get their birthday off as a paid holiday. For a wedding or a birth, they get two paid days off and a savings bond. I thought that was kind of neat. Too bad my sis and him already have their 4 kids....although that two days off is incentive to get married! As if the 4 kids weren't....

I thought that was kind of neat. Too bad my sis and him already have their 4 kids....although that two days off is incentive to get married! As if the 4 kids weren't....

And what are we blaming on Linda? I'm sure it's her fault...whatever it is.
