Best glue for flower making?

I tried making some of the flowers where you do the according fold, glue the end, spread out and glue onto backing paper. ATG didn't work, Zip 2-way glue didn't work. Maybe I did something wrong, but I'd rather blame the glue....

What glue do you use?

The only thing I found to work is a hot glue gun. It sets fast and holds the flower. Also a tip is to fill the center with glue. This helps hold the flower and keep its shape.

I use Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive. I've never had any problems.

I use Beacon's 3 in 1, it dries fast and holds really well. Plus it's acid free

I definitely prefer hot glue, it's messy but it holds

I also use hot glue for those kinds of flowers-strong and quick

For making accordian fold flowers I do it a bit differently. I use a needle and thread and gather the center of the flower by piercing the edge of the folded strip along one edge and drawing the strip into a circle. Then I use zip dry on the cs center and along the edge. Sometimes I also use a circle backing to attach the flower onto the page and I use zip dry for that too.

I just tried to make this flower too. I found my flower tight to pull together, wonder why? Anyways, I knew I should have used a glue gun but experimented with different glues, nothing worked, so I will have to dig my hot glue gun.

My friend uses Zip Dry and her flowers always stay.

Using the thread is a good idea, may have to play with that.

I have glue dots, thought about using them but they never cooperate with me but will try for this.

I do have a hot glue gun, didn't think of that

Thank you for all of the suggestions. Going to make a list and see what I find. Just started making flowers since I found this type because they are less frilly for my boy LOs.

I have had this happen when the flower is too thick/short. Try trimming the width of the flower and you should be good to go.

I always attached them to a circle on the back (usually scrap paper). Sometimes I will put a scallop behind the whole thing but the scrap papaer works well in case I have to mess around with it.

I am not a fan of glue sticks because most aren't acid free and believe it or not I have seen acid damage to my recent photos (red spots, etc)

Thank you for all of the suggestions. Going to make a list and see what I find. Just started making flowers since I found this type because they are less frilly for my boy LOs.

Regular sewing thread and embroidery floss work for this but a much better option is beading thread. It is so much more durable because it is waxed. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Denise - good to know. So you poke the thread through and tie to form circle and spread paper across it?

Thanks for the suggestion of cutting down the flower. I will try again tonight! (with my glue gun handy!!!!!)

Yes. Just cut the strip, fold, and stick the needle thru all the folds on one edge, gather to form a circle and tie it off.

I also stitch bows and ribbon onto my pp. I use a photo mounting squares on the back of the pp to secure the thread, just leave the peel-off backing on the one side or peel off and adhere the whole piece to another cardstock for a cleaner looking back its also more secure that way. I sew on my LOs all the time!

I've had good luck with Tombo Mono glue.

I just made some tonight, I used Tombo, but I really think any glue will do, it is just a matter of how long you will have to hold it together till the glue sets. I usually use the Scotch one or Scrappy glue.

I tried the Zip dry glue, It was a new bottle and it was thick and didn't work well,,maybe my glue was an old bottle,,I just bought it at HL cause I had seen so many people like to use it and have suggested it as a good quick drying glue but my bottle was a big fail.

I use some of the "Best Glue Ever".....I love that stuff.

I didn't like the Zip either, so maybe it was the glue(old)?
It just seemed to hard to work with ? Who knows, could of been operator error!!

That's how I feel about Scrappy Glue, I believe it used to be sold here and at Archivers, now I can't find it at either. Last I ordered, I think it was Joann's?? I really want to try "the best glue ever" tho. The Scotch one really works well and is half the price of these others.
