Yappi.com - Don't Feed The Trolls

So, we've received several notifications about this particular thread....some folks think that it would be a good time to come out from under their bridge, and be trolls....

Remember the gremlins movie? Don't feel them after midnight, and never get them wet? Trolls are much the same thing....

They want a reaction. Don't give them one.

The BEST THING that you can do if you see one is to FAIL to respond. Ignore 'em. Encourage others to do the same. Keep posting a link to this thread to help unsuspecting neighbors know what's going on.

It's a holiday weekend, but staff will be in and out in rotation. There may be periods of time where we need to moderate registrations and/or posts. So if it happens, get out your Don't Panic sign...

If there are a lot of notifications, sometimes the email system takes awhile to catch up. So feel free to drop me a PM with a username if you see something hinky, or trollish....

Love how they think the political forum is heavily moderated, which is making them lean towards coming here. They don't know that you, Megan, have a big wet mop.

OMG I never knew such a thing existed. I had heard tales of it but thought it was an urban legend.

I can't wrap my mind around how some people have nothing better to do in life than to try to cause havoc!! What a sad life they must lead!

This is all news to me, but I agree with the previous comments about people having too much time on their hands!

Well, I hope Megan mops them up although I can't find any so I guess she did. I'm not sure. Maybe I just don't look hard enough. I've got scrapping to do. Trolls...don't feed 'em. Don't give them the time of day. Well I could give them the time of day but for what?

Are these people who come in and pick fights? Or just spam?

I also clicked on the guy who started that thread and they went to a diferent thread and posted a little more about sb.com! Sort of like thye were quaking in their boots type of thing and not believing that legal action could be brought! And I have news for them because legal action can be brought against the site and those members. I've read about a aquarium forum that that actually happened to.

Anyway they were discussing a little more on page 47-48 on the what are you doing now thread. Don't know about all of them but the one I checked out was like 26. Who the heck raised these little bullies? You'd thenk they'd have learned how to behave by that age. lol

The word 'little' is the most accurate there. 'Little' in all other aspects of their lives, so they hide behind an invented macho type persona for some sort of weird gratification. I moderate an urban homesteading type forum in the UK and you should see the type of stuff we have have to deal with, when all we want to do is exchange tips on growing tomatoes and keeping chickens. Sheeesh. There was an article in a UK daily last week about a troll who had been unmasked as a mother of three little girls, who worked as a classroom assistant! Good grief.
Keep up the good work. I've only dipped a toe into this forum, but it seems a very comfortable place to be.

I was off and on the boards all day and I didn't see anything.

Either they got scared away and figured we were not the cluless scrapbookers (they referred to us in their thread as clueless) or they got mopped before we saw them.

Wonder if they went after the political group that was the other target.
