Ribbon Storage

What is yours? I had mine in jars, but that isn't working - it is just too random and you have to dump everything out to get to the one on the bottom. Thanks,

I thought I had a picture of mine on here, but I can't find it. I will take another one tonight. Basically I have 8.5x11 pieces of chipboard or cardboard, and I wrap my ribbon around that, keeping them together by like colors. Then I store them on end in a box almost like a file cabinet of ribbon. I can quickly see all the ribbon I have and can pull out the "file" that I need.

I have 2 pants hangers...the one where an wire swings out and you can put your spools of ribbon on it. It has 4 (?) wires on it. I need more but I have no more space to hang it up. I had plastic boxes that had a hole inside so you could poke the ribbon thru it. Why, you ask, did I get rid of it? It only held 5 or 6 spools and it was not clear. I am repurposeing the spools dvd or cds come on to put my jeweled ribbon on.

Much of my ribbon is in recycled clear plastic takeaway containers that stack and look pretty on my shelf. The rest is in a ribbon bag that I made, and I take that to crops with me.

And if you look in my Gallery under Scraproom, you can just about see my boxes of ribbons on the shelf directly above my bright pink ATG.

Presently I use a clear shoe storage box with the ribbon wrapped around clothes pins. Since I don't use a lot of ribbon now, this works for me. Before, I used a plastic basket from the dollar tree (the kind that is basket weave with multiple holes in it) and pulled the ribbon through the holes so I could see it.

I store my ribbons the same way as Vae now, and I love it. I used to have them in zip lock bags, but they always wound up a big clump of a mess and I couldn't see what I had...
I sat down two weeks ago and re-did it around the chipboard. Now I can see easily what I have, and they take up less room...and they look pretty.....
I also wanted to find a way to inspire me to start using them again, as I haven't for quite a while...

I have two types of ribbon storage long rolls are an antique apothecary label case you can see it on top of the smaller cabinet on the right hand side of the picture as you face it.

I love my Pull=Ez ribbon holder. I have it hanging in my closet and it fits easily in my crop bag when I'm traveling. I also use an iron for any ribbon that gets smooshed in there.

I store mine a couple different ways. One is a paper towel holder that hangs on the wall and another is in this Martha Stewart ribbon holder that wedges in perfectly on top of my paper rack. I don't use ribbon much these days so I found that storing it up and out of the way was the best for me.

That towel rack is so cute!

I have two of these now. I love this because it holds a lot and for me, it's more usable and I can see what I have.

I store mine on Ribbon Rings. I'm not sure if they are still made or not. Try Googling Ribbon Ring Storage and looking at images. I saw a great tutorial on how to make your own if the can't be purchased any more.

I love y'alls ideas. I have thought of placing a dressform that is made of wire and just tying my ribbon on it, so all I'd have to do is just snip a bit off. The only thing stopping me is an orange ball of trouble (in my profile photo taking a nap by my pie birds) named Ed.

I don't have any place to set or hang a rack so I wind my ribbons around the cardboard cores from rolls of paper towels and stick the ends down with Scotch tape. I keep the rolls in 2 Iris brand storage boxes which are themselves stored in a roll-around storage cart pushed under my work table. Mine are all haphazard but someday I'll get really organized and separate them into color groups. Well, that's the plan anyway.
