ranger melting pot question ?

Does anyone have any suggestions or warnings about the ranger melting pot ?? I am seriously thinking of investing in it!

It's a lot of fun to use and make embellishments. You can play around with it, then if you don't like what you make, just throw it back into the pot to reuse. However, if you do like what you make...you'll go through a lot of UTEE, and it's not real cheap. You can use other things in it, but I've only played with the UTEE so far. My daughter loves it, but I forget to use it unless she is over. We usually use cheap metal cookie cutters and pour the melted UTEE into the mold. It works great to use pretty, glossy magazine pictures, like from Natl. Geographics with flowers, etc. Put the cookie cutter on top of the picture, pour, let it harden, then as you lift it, the picture can be seen through the clear UTEE. Very cool... It also works with stamps and texture sheets. Pour a layer of melted UTEE, then stamp or press the texture sheet into it. Add glitter or colors...lots of fun to experiment. Look on YouTube for lots of good videos.

Also, the Ranger Craft Mat, or something comparable as far as heat resistance, is great to have because then the hot liquid can be poured right on the mat (carefully, so it doesn't overflow the edges!), then cut designs, stamp, or whatever you want to do, right on the mat.

Well- I think flowers and definatley some jewrelry ! I am getting these cheapy jewelry frames at amazon and filling the frames with utee, glitter, and other cool stuff maybey as Christmas presents this year??? also I saw a really COOL thing on youtube where this lady took lace and stick pins and made butterfly pins I thought that might look cool in utee all hardened??? PLUS I am hoping to get at amazon a birdhouse and decorate it for my mom she adores all critters like crazy!! hey---- YOU ASKED!!! ha ha there ya go !!! you should put it on your wish list for sure I am excited about ordering it in a few days!!! wish me luck!!

I wonder if those Martha Stewart molds would stand the heat? Or the cake decorating molds? or the molds that hot glue uses?

My daughter has used the MS molds and the candy molds and they've held up fine.

The paper clay molds Martha Stewart makes...you can put hot glue in them as well . Cake decorating has molds like MS too as well as hot glue company.

Yes, the UTEE is like hard plastic when it's dried.

Oh, Miz Driver! I never thought of/heard of pressing texture sheets into the melted UTEE.

I love my Melting Pot. I even used it to make prop teeth for a play that featured an onstage tooth pulling scene. I used that two-part mold from Ranger. I don't think it was labled as okay to press into your own mouth, but I'm still alive.

I freakin love dipping things INTO the stuff. They just look cool, all coated in plastic.

I've also used it to cook polymer clay. It's easier for me, than risking messing up the oven. It seems to make less fumes, too. But again, I'm still alive.

If it's what I think you're talking about...the bezels that Kory mentioned...then it should be no different than how I said my daughter fills metal cookie cutters with the UTEE, glitter, etc. For small areas, I'd try using a glass eye dropper or a small metal measuring spoon. I haven't tried those so I won't guarantee how they'd work, but I'd at least try them.

The sb store carries a wide range of these bezels. I've listed just a few of them to see if this is what you're talking about.

I am purchasing mine from amazon bc you can get like 25 pieces for under 10.00!!!!!

I've thought of making these and also UTEE earrings for my granddaughters. Then I can bling them up as much as they'd like to have them :>)

Play around with the UTEE and you should come up with some ideas. Maybe put a tiny little flower in. I'd maybe use a dab of glue to hold it in place, then add the UTEE over it, if the bezel has a metal backing to it. Lots of fun things to try.

My daughter has found all kinds of things to make, using the melting pot, by watching YouTube videos.
