How to include cards into albums

Hi All, I need some ideas for including the cards from Baby Showers, Birthdays and Holidays into an album with out cutting the cards up. Is there a "Paper" that can be used to glue them onto that will still attach into a 12x12 album, like the old school black paper from the long ago albums of our Grandmother's. I do not want to use sheet protectors.

I have one of those old scrapbooks we used back in the '50's.
I save all my Christmas, thank-you and get well cards I have received from my "Crafty Friends". I have just 2X taped them into that album. I find I have to loosen the strings every year to accommodate the new ones. I write notes and print out their avatar if they have one to remind me who they are .
You can put them in your scrapbook. I know someone makes pockets for cards. If you cant find any, use an album page to make your own.

I would take a piece of 12x12 cardstock ( probably two glued together for added strength ) and attach a re-enforced side spine to the left hand side and line it up to the binder rings then use a hole punch to punch the holes so it could be added into the album. You could make the spine by folding a 2" x 12" strip in half, re-enforce it with a strip of cello tape, then punch the holes thru the cello tape so they don't tear away.
When taping the card onto the cardstock for display, I would leave a section at the top un-taped, so as to be able to hold the card closed ( with a paper clip) so it doesn't flop open.

Or you can buy a Pioneer old fashioned scrapbook. They are cheap and hold a lot. I have one for my cards.

Or what about making a pocket on a page and sliding the cards into it? I will see if I can find an example online.

I am doing DS's baby album and I'm putting some of the cards in his album in smaller page protectors, like 5x7 size. These are the most important ones, like from his grandparents and his uncle (we have a small family, so this doesn't take a ton of room). The rest I have stored in a photo box for him. If he wants that box down the line, he can have it. Otherwise at least the ones I'd like for him to keep are already in his baby album I know you said you didn't want to do page protectors, but I thought I'd share my process incase it inspires you some way.

One of the reasons I'm hoping to get a Fuse for my coming birthday is so I can try to make customized greeting card holders out of page protectors. I want to cover the entire card and have it so the front, center and back can all be flipped and seen. Some of the old cards have writing on the back, plus it's fun to see the 5¢ or 10¢ pricing on the backs of the old ones :>) I'm not sure this will work, but it's my plan! Otherwise I'll just continue to use my almost-68-year-old cord-tied scrapbook that is like a Pioneer album :>) ~Judy

I can never understand why people throw cards away, especially from their husband/partner & children etc. I have congrats cards from when I was born, far too precious to throw away.

I photocopy the card on archival acid free photocopy paper. That way I can put the front of the card and the inside on my scrapbook page.

I'll post a photo once I get my Fuse and figure out how to do what I'm planning. If it doesn't work, I'll have to figure out a Plan B ;-)

Thank you all very much for your ideas. I am buying the "Fuse," (I want this for my own use for sure,) and I have really considered doing pockets for each of the special Family Cards. After talking to the lady I am doing this album with she has decided that she want's me to just use the cards I think would look nice as Accent pieces. Which since we are talking about 60 cards will be much easier and she does not care if any of it is Archival/Acid Free, which makes me kinda sad but her choice.

how about an envelope Pocket Page style, and put them all in as part of the main album. I'm doing this with some thematic minis (e.g. summer beach mini as part of that year's regular scrappy album )
I've also seen cards from baby showers put on an album ring and serve as a mini album - perfect!
