Page protectors or not?

I am making a gift baby album and started out putting the pages in page protectors and then did my covers but hated the looks in the 6x6 size. I like without because the pages look so much better. So now I'm experimenting making an envelope album and no page protectors. The pages are mostly light colors. So do you worry about the pages getting soiled?

I don't worry about it. I go with what looks best. I prefer page protectors, but some albums just look better without them.

Page protectors are to protect from grubby fingers and dirty air. There are no rules in scrapbooking, except there must be chocolate at crops.

I'm with Don, have to have chocolate!! My first album was without page protectors..... it gets dirty and some things may fall off but protectors were out of the question due to the unusual size. It was a gift and I don't worry about how it will hold up.
Most of my pages are in protectors but sometimes you just have to go with what works best! It has been said but bares repeating.... There are no rules in scrapbooking, except chocolate!! I added that last part for me!

I'm OCD. Must have protectors or I lay awake at night worrying about it. Seriously. Lol. They're going to be looking at the album one day while drinking wine. Yup, there it goes all ove your hard work...

And here's another thought; do both. You can cut out sections of the protector to accommodate the larger things, and protect the other things.
I do this a lot to accommodate my dimensional features. Here is one example; http://www.scrapbook.com/myplace/index.php?mod=gallerie...
I cut out a square for the flip-out device, it is taped to the page thru the sleeve.

How disappointed are you going to be if it does get dirty or soiled or like Donna said, a glass or red wine lands on it.

Also, I have had things fall off and with the page protectors its easy to glue them back on. Without the page protectors I'd never see them again.

I insist on page protectors in my books so the pages stay nice.

I have to agree with the majority. Page protectors! Hate to see that work get ruined
