Military Family Hangout

I am new here and new to the military family life. My youngest son just left in October for basic and graduated in Dec. He came home for 2 weeks on HBL and returned back to base for AIT training today. No one in my family understands the hell I am going through and now that I am learning what to do without kids at home decided to start scrapbooking again. It was something I used to do and LOVED~ I thought I would post and see if any other military families /moms out there that might be in my boat, have been in my boat and we could chat, scrap and share. ANYONE welcome.....

Your youngest son must be an outstanding young man to go into the military like this.

If you do any digital, will be glad to email you some military digital stuff. Am also going to figure out how to get my digital papers and elements on the cloud so others can access it.

I know there are a lot of military families here! My husband is retired military but I married him after he retired.

Good luck getting other military family scrappers here - I know there are quite a few!

I have not done digital scrapbooking yet, but would like to learn. That might be something I make as a goal this year. I have to start his book for basic and one of my first projects.

Hi again Robin ::) I can totally understand what feelings you may have about your precious son. My son considered it for some time but he did not go. I want to send you more hugs for being a army mom. Like Henri said..he has to be an outstanding man to do this
my husband enlisted in the Marines right when he graduated but he is 9 yrs older than I so I was not a current military wife. You must be so proud of him (even scared) . I know there are lots of millitary people on here

Thank you Linda! I am pretty stinking PROUD! It also gives me a new found respect for what our military does. For now, I am just learning to walk again without kids in the house and looking to get back into scrapbooking. I have a new scrapbook to start for him for Basic Training and graduation and want to get ahead of it. Looking for cool army stuff to use and that has kept me a little distracted.

Well, I found a free camo digi kit so I played with it and created my first Digi layout.

It hit me hard when our son finally movred out because he was the youngest It is an amazing thing they do every single day i am glad you are going to scrapbook again I agree..it will help keep your mind off of it for some time I am sure he will love the albums you make he is going to see & feel the love you put into every single thing in that book

I can't believe this is your first digi layout I love the way you layered page 1 love the stars too. pg 2 It is amazing too I love the green& your touching journaling I love the camo shades too love the stars too : I love the design of page 2 as well

AWW! Thanks a bunch. Sure was a nice surprise to find all the love posted when I got home after a bad day today.

This year has not started off so hot, but I am determined that the tides will be changing! This past year has been rocky, but I know that GODS got something good on the way and I just have to weather the storm and dance in the rain and have faith~

Very well said. We all have rocky patches - its part of life. But God is in control. As you said, have faith - it will get better.

I am so sorry to hear about your bad year I sure hope that this new year will be so much better for you. I know that you are an amazing strong woman so you will be dancing in the rain eventually

Thank you all! Well, I've been fighting this crude since the 21st of December (day my soldier came home for his HBL), Still fighting and it got me down this past week/weekend. We finally had a good day yesterday. Need prayers as my husband goes back to court Thursday. NASTY custody battle. TEENAGERS! LOL

Heard from my soldier yesterday for first time since arriving at AIT training and LOVES it. He got his first duty station and will be state side. HAPPY MOM DANCE! Not to terribly far from home and he will be getting great training at his FSD (First Duty station for those NON-military moms)

First day of feeling like a HUMAN again! WAHOO~

As for my son, me too. He wants to travel and go overseas, but the options for his current MOS (Job) is very limited. The base he will be it is not to terribly far and it has a Federal Prison. So lots of good training

First Thank you! Second, I don't know about AWESOME, but I did my best (lots of mistakes a long the way). I was hoping to find some other moms to join that might be struggling with the same things and have a place to talk, cry... whatever they needed. and as we became more "seasoned" help new ones. LOL This is a difficult job to say the least, but one I proudly take on. It's just difficult when other family and friends don't know, understand the struggles and think your just being silly.
