Circle Cutters- what's the best?

well, im fairly new to this and im in my glory with gift certificates and Coupon s at michael's. i bought a Memory Makers circle cutter... i don't think i like it b/c the cutting board isnt self-healing and i dont like pulling the blade out each time im done. is there a better circle cutter out there or perhaps a cutter you can do different shapes with as well?.. like all in one.. how about the coluzzle? i have no idea... as well what are the other 'major' (more so the more pricier) tools out there that some of you can't live with out??? thanks for your help

I have the circle scissor and I love it! I do use the glass mat to cut on. I just bought the Making Memories circle cutter but I haven't used it yet.
Ek Success has a new out but it's kind of pricey!
The template is $18 and the blade is $24.

I haven't tried many but my favorite is still the CM cutting system. Does a few different sizes of circles and ovals and also the lines.

I have both the CM & the Colluzle. I like the Coluzzle the best. Easy to use & more options.

CM is Creative Memories. I love their cutting system as well. It's not sold in stores. It is one of those companies that have consultants. You can go to their website to find a consultant. You can place an order with thatconsultant without having a CM party.

Coluzzle all the way. It does great circles, and there are tons of other templates you can get to do shapes, tags and labels, alphas, etc.

I use the Fiskars Shape Shape cutter (disk style). The main reason I use it is because I already had the templates from long ago for another project. I just never bought the actual cutter. So rather then buy something new i decided to use my previous investment. Some people don't like this cutter but I find it really easy to use. I just bought the letter template to add to my collection last week. I also like the shape templates because each edge of the templates has a pattern on it that you can use as well. For instance, if you want to make a wavy cut on your paper there is a wavy pattern on one edge of the Circle pattern.

I just bought the Coluzzle a week or two ago. I like it. Make sure you go to the product review section here and read what everyone says about it -- I got almost unanimous "yes" to Coluzzle, but there were several good tips -- like don't throw away the cutting mat it comes with (looks like foam packaging!) and make sure you take off the transparent sticky paper on both sides of the templates.

Another vote for Coluzzle!! Takes a little practice but very versatile.

another vote here for CM!
I had an old version Fiskers one that I absolutely hate.

I had trouble with the cuzzle in getting it to stay straight.

Coluzzle has alphabet templates. They take a lot of practice but are a great alternative to an expensive machine.

I am personally a fan of the CM set. You can get other cutting patterns(ovals, hearts, etc.) and still use the same mat and cutting tools. It's super easy to use, and it comes with three different sizes of cutters. Thats 6 different size circles per each of the three circles in the set. It's semi-expensive ($14 per set plus mat and blades), but if you're willing to invest and stick with it, it's a great investment when added to the other shapes.

I never liked CM--too small plus it is really hard for people with arthiritis or carpal tunnel to use becuase you have to grip this little thing and move it around--it was really uncomfortable for me.

However, what else is there? The Fiskars one is terrible--I almost never get a good circle from it. I love the Coluzzle but I wish it had bigger circles. I have been looking at the Cutterbee one here in the supersotre but just leery of spending more money ona circle cutting tool.

I say if you can, try themout at the LSS or from your CM rep before you make the decision to buy.

I am in the minority, I have the Fiskars circle cutter and I LOVE mine.

I make altered paint cans and I cut circles for the lids. I cut perfect circles everytime.

The Fiskers oval cutter has been difficult and I have not quite figured that one out yet (honestly haven't given it much of an effort).

I also have the Fiskars shape cutter and I was less than happy with that one too. Everyone I have seen use it seems to do so with such ease. I haven't quite mastered it yet.

thanks so much for all of your great comments/suggestions. I've returned the MM cutter and got the Coluzzle. I really love it so far! its super easy. at first i thought all of the sizes were seperate templates but its actually stuck together in one. SO COOL! i just started my second full scrapbook of a european vacation this past summer. YAY!

I bought the Fiskars templates and cutting tool and glass cutting plate...and I don't like it at all. I like the poster before me, trace the shapes and cut by hand.

PUNCHES!!!!! To me, they are a life saver. You can get a series of sized of the same shape - circles from 1/4 inch to 3 inches! Tags are my favorite at the moment! But, boy, punches can do everything and they are easy and quick to work with.

And you can use them on photos, cardstock, pattern paper - pretty much anything you need to cut! They are the best!

My next choice for larger circles is the Coluzzle Template. use that foam cutting matte and it does really great and is easy.

You actually can order supplies from a consultant's website (mine is http://www.mycmsite.com/sabine) and as of Nov. 1st, you can choose the new "direct ship" option, so it doesn't matter if you live in a different state than your consultant. I have been using our Custom Cutting System with the circles, ovals, gemstones and wavy frames for years and they have never let me down.

I love both the Coluzzle and the CM Cutting System. I own the Coluzzle - it's more affordable to me - especially with the 40% off Coupon s Michael's offers rather frequently.

Have you tried the Fiskars shape cutters? I like that and the Ek Success circle cutter.
