I am confused as all getout on what/how to use vellums.

I bought a huge pack of them and have no idea how to get them to look right, any ideas?

When I try to use them, it seems to me too forced when I just tape them on.

I only have one of these books & only used one or two pages.

That being said, you can do the following:

ink the edges

surround with other embellishments (flowers, swirls, ribbons, etc. to blend together)

use like a journal block

dress it up by stamping a basic design element over the writing in a light, subtle ink color

Maybe these will ideas will help you think of other things to incorporate.

I second all of the above from Susan. As for adhering them, you can use brads, eyelets, vellum runner, vellum Glue Dots , or regular adhesive. The regular adhesive will show through, so then you just cover that with embellishments.

If you have an empty space on one of your pictures, you can also put the vellum over that part of the photo. I did this with one of my LOs (see below).

In case you can't tell, I like to journal on vellum! I print it out on my computer.

These are a great way to add journaling.
I just made a card using these and I tore my edges then chalked them. I run them thru the Xyron for complete adhesive coverage.
U can also cut the phrase apart and add the pieces to a card or a LO in different directions. Lots of options w/these.

Vellum is great! I love making my own tho....

I love to journal on vellum, but I've also used some pre-printed vellum tags like the ones you bought. If you go back to the older pages in my gallery, you can see some LOs in my wedding planning album that use vellum in different ways.

I printed the lyrics to our first dance song on ivory paper as background paper, then printed just some highlighted words on vellum and lined them up. The lyrics on the vellum really stand out, and the vellum softens the background writing. I scraplifted the technique, but I love how it turned out.

I suggest adhering with spray. Very economical, fast, and totally invisible. I don't recommend the pre-printed vellum as you always are left with tons you don't like or don't apply to you and you really want to personalize the title or write your journaling on it.

I've started using spray adhesive, but haven't checked to see if it's scrapbook safe - so I'm just using it to layer paper for now. I LOVE it though - so easy, and such a good, fast hold.

I have all kinds of it but I have yet to use any of it, b/c I didnt know how to get it to hold to the paper.

Like everyone said, use brads, eyelets or cover the areas that show the glue with something. I haven't tried the Xyron but just bought one so I'm hoping that makes it easier.

I've torn the edges to some of mine and used vellum adhesive.

I like the spray adhesive, if you don't want to use any embellishments on it, like brads, etc.

With the spray, the main thing is to let it get tacky before you press it down on th paper. That is, you spray it and wait 20 sec. or so. You can gently keep touching it to see when it gets tacky--then it's ready.

The kinds made for scrapping are safe but a number of those on the market--and even sold in scrapping stores atr not acid free. It always says so on the label if it's ok. On some things I don't worry about safety, but on adhesives--and especially when there are so any safe ones available--I always go acid-free/archivally safe.

What are some of the scrap-friendly ones? The only versions of spray adhesive I've seen are the Scotch /3M ones; I don't know if any or all of these are safe, though.

If you are putting them over a photo or a smaller piece of paper you can "wrap" the vellum and glue on the back side of the photo so you won't see the glue.

My favorite one is Creative Imaginations "Scrappers Spary" but here are some others I have in my cabinet:

I do a lot w/ vellum so lots of companies send me stuff to test.
(BTW, I've seen another 3M spray adhesive in a few scrap stores and it's NOT acid free but they just didn't look when they ordered it.So do read the can.)

The reason I like the CI spray is because the can is narrow and easy to hold AND the spray comes out nice and fine so it coats easily, evenly and quickly and it's not stinky.

Also, I've used Elmers Spray and 3M Super77 (and I do believe they're acid free but I don't have a can so I can't check)

I love vellum, often tear and ink the edges, sometimes attach it with brads, but most often with vellum Glue Dots . Have tried everything else mentioned, but like them the best. I bought a lot of those vellum packets when I started scrapping, have used some of the sheets. But I probably do 80% of my journaling with the computer on vellum.

I do lots of things with mine. Tear the edges, trim it down, or use decorative scissors. I don't bother with any kind of vellum adhesive, I use brads, eyelets, and snaps instead. Here's an example:

The word "Memories" on the left side is actually a vellum sticker, it came that way. I inked all around the page, and layered the vellum underneath the matted photo. There's actually TWO different vellums, one purple and one white. The purple I just adhered with purple snaps; the white I tore into a strip and adhered with pink snaps, and on top of the white I put my double-matted photo, then embellished the page.

I just found a whole bunch of vellum that I had left over from wedding invitations. I had a lot of fun using it yesterday in a LO.
i did my title and journaling w/my printer on the vellum. I attached w/ brads. I love the finished product.

I tried running my vellum through the printer and it worked great - I left it to dry a while and I am amazed. I will never buy pre printed vellum again - I tried printing in different colors and it looks really cool.
