How do I use 8x8 paper?

Hello all!
I'm brand new to scrapping and am wondering how to use 8x8 paper. I buy my paper at Marshalls and they have a ton of DCWV 8x8 paper stacks (I think they're cardstock) for like $3.99. How do you use this size paper? Is it usually cardstock or lighter-weight paper? I hear people talk about making mini-albums with this size...but how?
What are other uses for this size paper?

I would say 90% of the layouts I do are 8x8...I find it cheaper...not as much space to fill. You could also make cards, use it to make shapes, frame photos, journal, and so on. I LOVE small packs of paper (mainly 6x6), this way you don't have as much waste as a 12x12 if you just need a small piece...Hope this has helped. You can easily use it for an 8x8 album. The stores near me all sell them and the plastic page protectors as well. You could also use that paper as flair for bigger pages or to cut down for even smaller albums.

i typically don't buy 8 by 8 and i keep a bin of scraps... i will just cut down my 12 by 12 paper to the 8 by 8 size when i need to do that size of work, but as the previous poster said, it can be used for mini albums... i am thinking about using a piece of 8 by 8 (that i have cut down from a 12 by 12 for a mat for a photo later... the photo will be a larger one like a 5 by 5 instead of a 5 by 7 allowing a nice amount of matting.. and then i can journal around the photo right on the mat if i so choose to...

I just bought some 8x8 paper at Marshall's last week. My plan is to use it as accents on a larger page. If I buy really pretty paper in 12x12 I sometimes don't want to cut it and use as an accent. But if it is 8x8 and my layout is 12x12, then it is, by definition, an accent. Ok, I may be a little weird that way!

I cut strips from 8x8, stretch the strips to fit the 12x12 space, then put a photo or journaling block over them to fill the gap. Does that make sense?

I use this size for cards. I only get it when the slabs are on sale or marked down. You can cut a lot of punches from it! Do you have a Cuttlebug or other embossing system? It's a great size to trim and use in it. You can also make your paper flowers from this size. If you like the patterns and it's a good price, add it to your stash.

I bought the 12x12 DCWV Mango Frost Stack...it's beautiful, and I don't want to cut it up. But, some of the patterns are a little too bold, and will overshadow the photos. I will have to figure out how to break up some of that pattern. I also bought the Mango Frost Cardstock Stack...don't mind cutting it, since it's solid colored pages.
I feel like I'm overthinking all this! LOL!

I've made 8x8 gift albums, but otherwise I never buy this size ... only 12x12

you can make 8x8 albums. Or use the paper for photo mats on a larger layout. I also get this size to use on cards and mini albums!!

ink it
paint it
tear it
cut it
die cut it
use for mats
use for mini albums
use for cards
use it for journaling

basically think of if u have a 12x12 piece of paper and u use a piece of it.. but then love it too much to get rid of how would u use the scraps and such... use it just as u would any other piece of paper u love. Hope this helps
