Problem with page protectors

Hi,

Although I scrapbook for many years, I have never used page protectors.
Recently I did a mini album using them and I noticed that two of my page protectors got wrinkled. In between is a page which is not in a page protector.
To make sure I had the same page protector design, I put an empty one in. That one is now wrinkled as well. I have the feeling I have used something on the page which is inbetween that caused the reaction. I am not sure if I did use glue or not.

Can anyone help me what the cause might be?

Can you take a picture of the 'wrinkling'? And also a picture of the 'unprotected' layout that you suspect is the cause of the wrinkles.
In the beginning I thought you meant it had just got bent, but your talk of reactions make me think perhaps a glue or some other chemical.

I hope I still remember how to add pictures to a post, so hopefully they will show up.

How soon after making the pages did you put them in the protectors?
What kind of adhesive did you use?
It looks kind of like heat reaction. Heat can come from a light of some sort, or a chemical reaction, or both.
Goblins. When things like this happens to me, I blame evil goblins.

On these pages I used Tacky Glue, double sided tape and a tape runner. I am not quite sure but it is possible I put them in the page protector within an hour.
The problem is only with the two pages, not any other in the album, so I don't think it is a light problem.
The other thing they have in common they are next to a page which is not in a page protector and I have used a new kind of picture paper for that page.

Any chance, they were stored next to a heat source like a heater vent or something like that? It looks like they got hot and warped. So sorry to see your dilemma.

I haven't been around much here lately. Too much to do and too little time.
The album is not very close to it, but there is central heating. Since it is only two pages in the album with the problem and all the others are fine, I have a feeling it is something in the album causing the reaction.

What happens when you change the page protectors for new ones? Maybe the new ones wont wrinkle - those 2 protector pages could be defective.

To make sure I had an extra one I put it immediately in the album on top of the wrinkeled page protector, but left the new one empty. Then a week later I noticed the new empty page protector had the same problem.
Last week I put another one in that was torn (apparently I am not good with page protectors) and so far that one seems to be holding on. I am hoping whatever kind of reaction it was, the culprit is no longer active.
Still wondering what it might have been.

How are you storing your albums? Laying down or upright?

They should all be upright. NO idea if that is the problem though.

That actually might be the problem. I do store my albums upright, but while I was working on it, it was laying flat!

Do the pages FIT ok?? I know sometimes if my layout is too 3D or my layers are too thick, etc....the protector doesn't handle it well...and THEN, if I had a second page to the back of it, it makes it worse.

I looked really close at your first picture and it looks like there is consistent pulling from the seam area. The pocket contents are raised a bit indicating thickness in addition to being a little snug. I have seen this on some pockets I use for my stamp album, especially if it is a snug fit. It is a little frustrating as it can be a random occurrence. It might be if you can move items around to make the pocket less thick it might help if the page is not stretched out.

As a precaution I would make sure you store your unused protectors out of the sun or away from vents. The heat can weaken the plastic making it more susceptible to over stretching.
