Heat Embossing?

I love using my moms heat gun when I go to visit her to heat emboss.
But since I don't have the money to dish out for one of my own.
I was curious, is there anything else that I could use to heat emboss?
Would a hair dryer work?

No a blow drying won't work - it doesn't get hot enough.

It will just blow the embossing powder right off of the page.

You can hold your paper over a toaster. I've never tried it myself, but I've heard several people say that it works.

I've done the toaster and also the electric element of your stove (wouldn't try a gas one...). I found the stove worked better than the toaster cuz my toaster kept popping up before the stuff was melted. I hold my paper with tweezers so I don't burn my hand.

I just had to try this. I used my toaster and put it on a high setting. And IT WORKED! My first sample letter actually worked better than my title. I probably had more ink which held more powder. So make sure you get your stamp really juicy!

and for small things, and you really have to be areful, I use a lighter... you just have to hold the item upside down, over a lighter and far away or you will scortch the paper.... Otherwise, I too use my toaster oven.

I totally understand trying to save money--but I love my colorizer heat tool--$15.00 w/a 50% coupon. Makes a great present!

I used my iron before I got my heat tool. Kinda funny, that was the only use my iron got... lol

I always burned my paper using the oven. I finally broke down and bought a gun and I lOVE it! You can get one at Michaels for $10 if you wait for a 50% off coupon, a little more w/the 40%. I think it's well worth the money!

i got my heating gun on Monday and I LOVE it too! It wasn't too bad with the 40% coupon at Michaels.

I sounds like I am going to have to get some things listed on ebay for some money. Then try to find a coupon for a craft store.
