VERSAMARK...HELP!!!

I just recieved a VersaMark Ink Pad...the WaterMark one, and I don't know how to use it...how do I use chalk with it? And what is meant by resist? What can I use to do the resist technique? If anyone could help me, I'd really appreciate it!

I love to use mine when embossing. I stamp an image, sprinkle my embossing powder and heat. You can also use it as an "ink"....giving your project a water mark. I am not really very good at the resist portion, so I am no help there.

As a resist, you would emboss just like Nancy described. Use it to add clear embossing powder (so you have clear ink + clear embossing powder which really means you have a raised portion of whatever your paper underneath is) then when the embossing powder is dry you can ink, paint, or even bleach your paper and the stamped image that was clear embossed won't hold the ink, paint, or bleach. So that stamped image will resist it and stay looking like a raised portion of whatever the paper is beneath it.

Really versamark is a great ink for all kinds of embossing just because it is extra sticky and almost clear so it is really versatile.

I have never used it with chalk, but I have used ranger's perfect pearls and they come with some stuff that is essentially the same as versamark. You stamp in it and then kind of dust the powder over top of it using a paint brush and they say to set it using a fine mist of water. Not sure how chalk would do with that. It might hold chalk better though due to it being kinda sticky.

To use chalks with the versa mark pad. Stamp an image then use a q-tip (or something of the sort) with chalk on it and pass over where you stamped it will then make the image you just stamped pop! You will have some chalk on the area that there is no versa mark ink but practice and you'll see how cool a technique it is. Play, play, play and have fun!

There is a versa pen that I use for chalking. I stamp an image with regular ink and then to colour it in I use the pen to dip/rub into the chalk and then onto the image.

eta...hahaha, now I see that the link provided above shows the pen which I am talking about.

Great ideas above. Just have to add--I was so skeptical that it would work with chalk, it seemed too easy. But it does, and it's beautiful!

A: As its name suggests, VersaMark is a very versatile ink! The following is a list of some of our favorite uses of this unique ink pad.

Two Step Stampin'
Stamp the first image with VersaMark and then the second with an Encore metallic pad. Technique looks best on darker, richer tone card stocks (i.e. Bravo Burgundy, Handsome Hunter).
Embossing
Use the VersaMark pad like you would any of our pigment ink pads in your embossing projects. Because VersaMark is a clear ink, you can use the embossing powder color of your choice without the color of the pigment pad showing through the embossed powder.
Embossing with Classic padsInk and stamp with one of our Classic Stampin' Pads. Clean the stamp and then ink the same image with VersaMark, stamping directly over the image. Apply clear embossing powder and heat with embossing tool. Note: For best results, use the Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner to help line up the image stamped with Classic pads and the embossed image.
Embossing on GlassPrior to stamping, rub the Embossing Buddy over the stamping surface. Stamp the image on a glass container with the VersaMark pad and then emboss with detail gold or silver for an elegant touch to any piece of glassware. Note: This technique is recommended for decorative purposes only. Embossed images can scratch off or come off when washed.
Poppin' Pastels
Stamp the image with the VersaMark ink pad on a piece of neutral colored card stock (Whisper White, Very Vanilla, etc.). Apply Stampin' Pastels with sponge daubers, stamping sponge or pastel applicator directly to the ink.
Resist
Stamp on Glossy White card stock with the VersaMark pad. Ink up the rubber brayer in a Classic or Spectrum pad and repeatedly roll over the card stock. Wherever the VersaMark ink was stamped, the card stock resists the colored ink from the brayer. Note: This technique can also be done with a Gold Encore pad.
Emboss Resist
Stamp an image with VersaMark ink and emboss with Crystal Clear embossing powder. When the image is cool, sponge one or more colors of Classic ink over and around embossed image. The stamped image will resist the ink.
Reverse PastelsApply Stampin' Pastels (bright colors work best) to a dark colored card stock (Basic Black, Night of Navy, Close to Cocoa, etc.) and then stamp over the chalked area. The ink pulls off the color the chalk, revealing the paper beneath. Be sure to clean the stamp before re-inking as the chalk you removed is now on your stamp and will dirty your VersaMark pad.
Watermark
Create a great tone-on-tone effect by stamping on a piece of colored card stock. The image appears a deeper shade than the card stock and is perfect for subtle backgrounds

Versamark was one of "those' products that I wish I had discoverd much sooner than I did. I use in many of the ways listed above, but I also love to use it to make my own pp. It is especially great for the background of cards.
Example:
Stamp your card background using a flower stamp. In the areas around the outer edge, allow the stamp to hang off the paper. The effect is really a very nice tone on tone for a beautiful background paper. This is such a neat product and it is suprising how much you can do with it.
