Uses for Gift Wrap?

Have any of you thought of creative re-uses for gift wrapping paper? Some of it is so pretty I don't want to throw it away. But sometimes it's a little too thin for some projects like paper rosettes. Any crafty ideas?

I use all kinds of goodies on canvases.

I use it sometimes to make cards, and tags for presents. Since you'll be cutting out a portion and backing it with cardstock the thinness doesn't matter.

I saw somewhere on line in one of the recycling places a video on howto make beautiful bows from left overwrapping paper. One time I cut it into stripsabout one inch and did the woven pattern thing. Like we use to do as kids for placemats.

You can back it with inexpensive flat white or colored cardstock (glue it together)and run it through your die cutting machine. Then it is sturdy, and you can make paper rosettes. Thin paper is great for collages, and can be modge podged onto just about anything. Frames, tiles, plaques, etc... Have fun! Can't wait to see what you do!

I decorate gift bags with it. Sometimes I use it as scrap paper on a tag.

Thanks for all the tips, ladies! I can totally picture doing a pretty collage using decoupage...especially for the holidays!

Get out your punches - scallops, circles, hearts... Punch it up and you'll have cute little embellishments as needed.

I just found this thread as I was looking for another topic but I felt I had to weigh in. I see that I am very late to this party, but good ideas are always worth passing along, right?

I just watched a video teaching how to make your own tissue tape on Youtube. The video maker used tissue paper in all colors, naturally, but also showed some she made using "cheap" thin wrapping paper. For this, the thinner the better, but even some decent thickness isn't too bad. Basically, you just run it through your Xyron machine to get glue on the back and that's it. She put through as wide a sheet as she could then cut strips in the width she wanted later. It's a great way to re-use some of the great paper you have and bring some color and pattern to your projects. It might also be good to use as tape for your gifts at Christmas? You never know.

I hope you can use this idea. I am excited to make my own.

All of the above plus, if you find that wrapping paper has something printed on it that you wish was an embellishment, you can cut it out, cover it with thick, clear embossing powder and heat and repeat until you achieve the thickness you desire. Then just attach to your LO. I did this with some pictures out of magazines as well to do an obsession page for Dooney&Bourke purses.

I definitely agree on the punches idea, I don't know why it hasn't occurred to me that I could try that with my too-small-to-wrap scraps.

Usually I use my leftover scrap to make bows to adorn the tops of box presents or gift bags. My mom taught me how to do it when I was really young and I can tell you, for me, it takes a lot of patience but it absolutely worth it.

I often uses the wrapper for designing my scrapbook specially if the wrapping has a very cute design, usually I use to cut them in shapes or uses them as a frame like structure on my scrapbook.

You can make a tassel out of it. Also swerving rays of lines, make it as an addition to new items. Paper lace. Symmetric cut-outs: snowflakes, children in a row, fir tree outlines. Quilted background. Flimsy tree leaves.
