Help with Vellum ?

I ordered a brown vellum paper online and just got it today. It is way more opaque than I expected. My question is - is there any way to make it more transparent? Like some sort of mixture of liquid that would strip it or something? I know this is a weird topic and question. I couldn't find any brown colored vellum here on scrapbook.com. The only other thing I can think of trying is I have some ivory vellum. Maybe I could use tea or coffee and stain the ivory vellum brownish? What do you guys think? Thanks!

I don't think you can lighten it. Most velum is frosty looking. Maybe ink the plain velum?

I've never heard of a way to lighten vellum. I think darkening the ivory colored would work though. Maybe a watercolor wash over it?

Hi thanks southgirl, I wonder if I watered down some ink that would work. I'll let you know if anything works!

Hi Cindy, thanks for replying. I thought I hit reply but I must have hit preview so my response my come up twice. I will try a few different techniques on my ivory vellum and let you know how it goes!

Maybe a light tan alcohol ink. Do you have extra vellum to play with. If not, just go with gut instinct. There are no mistakes in crafting, just something for another project.
