Paper storage: Fading from sunlight

I've been lucky enough to get 4 12x12 paper racks with 30 slots each from a store going out of business. My only concern about using them is the possibility of papers fading if exposed to light. I think scrapbook paper may be OK, but cardstock might be a problem. Any suggestions or thoughts?How do you keep your papers safe from fading? Thanks!

I had a paper rack that actually came with a dust cover that fit right over it to avoid dirt and light.

It could be as simple as putting a plain white or black sheet of 12x12 cardstock at the top of each shelf of paper. You could even make a label that would fit at the bottom edge of that sheet identifying the category of paper for that particular stack.

I actually do something similar to Dwelch's suggestion. I have a tall rack. I did not notice fading in the middle shelves, but the very top page did fade and collect dust, so I used a piece of the 12x12 chipboard that the LSS gives you when you buy paper on the top of it.

These suggestions are very helpful. I like the idea of creating a cover for the top of each stack. Maybe I can theme each one. It"s another opportunity to be creative. And if I use a UV spray on each, they'll probably last. Also, though I"m not great at sewing, maybe I can fashion some sort of dust cover, something simple that I can roll up from the bottom. You"ve gotten my creative juices rolling! I"ll be giving this much thought. Thanks so much!

I have one of those shelves and I have it on a box so it is tall. I put the paper on the top 5 shelves upside down. So I can see them when I stand in front of the shelves. It also helps with the dust issue because the dust is on the bottom side of the paper. I have never had any fading issues.

I like that idea of putting the top sheet upside down.
