I am on a tight budget and currently store most of my stamps (wooden) in a big blue dollar store bin. It works I think. AlSO I keep my clear stamps in a small clear box that they came in. Any suggestions??
This one is not for another couple of weeks for me, so I'm going to wait and see what the e-mail says before I comment properly. I THINK my stamps are organised, but I'm sure the class will show me where I can improve!
FYI Mindy, my wooden stamps are all in one drawer, my sentiment stamps are in an old Maya Road clear-lidded flat tin, I have another couple of those tins with the packs that fit inside them. Everything else is in 3 repurposed zipped CD cases. If you want a closer look, I have photos in my Gallery in my Scraproom album.
Hello fellow organizers. Because photo organization is ongoing in our scrapbooking I'll randomly add helpful photo storage/organization tips in some of our forums from time to time; like I'm doing with this post.
Please let us know how all things stampy are are coming along in your studio. And a big thanks to those who are at the "head-of-the- class" who help the rest of us with their posts and encouragement.
Have a great week! I'm quite sure you're going to love the results of your hard work!
My stamps are stored in a tote. I don't use a lot of stamps. I do have them all in one place. except for my big santa head stamp that I got for Christmas it is in my drawer with the ink. I get to look at it every time I open the drawer.
I finished my stamp storage a few weeks ago - cause that's when I had the energy for it. I didn't change very much. I just completed the inventory and purged a few stamps that I didn't need. I like stamping and have been hooked on them since before I started officially scrapping.
don't worry Rosey, I'm still working on week 8!! I have made progress and have filled 6 albums with another 6 to 8 to go. Fortunately the other weeks going forward have not posed that much of a problem for me. But wait till we get to the ribbon!
My Stamps are no problem other that I have not used the majority of them since November 2012. They are very neatly stored on three shelves in my studio, and one book case in my bedroom closet.
The sets in my studio are in 5.75x6.5 envelopes or 5x6 plastic cases, then the envelopes & cases are in a 6x11 boxes. My inks are either in a wooden holder on the top of the counter or in drawers in the metal shelving. They are all organized by manufacturer and the ones I was not going to use were given away last year.
I totally love my stamp storage containers - Stampendous Stuftainers (Thin for unmounted, Thicker for small mounted ones). But I don't use them as much as I'd like to, I need to keep them in a place that's more accessible. I put them in the scrappy cabinet I'm working on organizing ... but later realized I'd forgotten I'd put three of the Stuftainers on my work-in-progress table, so now I'm not sure if they'll all fit. Not to mention that I may have a few recent purchases that need to be incorporated
I have been re-organizing my stamps since Jan slowly unmounting. I decided to organize by theme animals, flower, etc, really a freeing decision, I use them a LOT more. I kept the images so I can identify what company in just a paper binder. Here is a link to the blog where I found the Unikeep binders, scroll down bc she does a before and after. http://triplethescraps.blogspot.com/2009/03/organizational-friday-unmounted-stamp.html
Now I have ran into a snag with my sentiment stamps I have so many for Project life and cards I would like to do a MSWord doc and put them in alphabetical order with the stamp image, so at the moment I am typing in a doc and then sort them alphabetically then but them in some kind of storage.
I have a large inventory binder but they are not in A-Z order so I 'think' after I get them in the doc file and sorted I will cut the words from my large binder and make a smaller something for just words & sentiments.
I can't decide whether to use a small 3 ring 5x8 binder that I have or a cute little large index card holder I found but haven't purchased. In my search I found that index cards come in 3 sizes
3x5, 4x6 & 5x8
Thanks I saw the pic red squirrel!!!
I have got to find a space or holder for my stamps that I already have available to me- make any sense?? Tight budget!!!
Btw, I am all caught up b/c I just go to the section of this area in the forums and caught up that way ( no need for email then) \
NEED SUGGESTIONS for where to put the stamps!!!
thanks,
Mg
Some great ideas for the future there. For now I have one drawer containing my wooden stamps and 3 tins of acrylic sets, and everything else is in 3 repurposed CD cases, for small stamps (two layers), large stamps and Christmas stamps. I'm good until my collection gets significantly larger. I have one more matching CD case, and I've already decided that my sentiment stamps are going to go into it when the other cases overflow.
Yay. A week off for me! I can't wait for the cropping class. I think I might download ahead and work on that one this week, because my next crop, if I go, is a week Saturday.
I'm so far behind... trying to get caught up as I can
I just recently put all my stamps onto a pinterest board. I am too lazy to take them all out of their package, ink them up, stamp them onto an index card, clean them, and then put them back just to have a reference. Most of my stamps I was able to find a picture of online which I saved to my pinterest board. The few (maybe 3 or 4?) that I couldn't find online, I just took a pic and uploaded it to my pinterest. Now anytime I get a new stamp I just add it to my pinterest board, and if I'm looking for a stamp, that's the first place I check to see if I have it or something similar.
(The pins could disappear over time if the link is removed, so I just did a quick backup of that board just in case.)
Hi Everyone! I guess I have never seen this thread and sorry I am missing out because I NEED to be more organized but lack of time makes it harder. I have a couple stamps I have misplaced somewhere in my home and have yet to find. but I do have somewhat of an organization plan because I have so darn many stamps-pretty sure like 1500 or so. I have collected since I was a kid (garage sales)and am now in my 50's. I have most in those square buckets that our cat litter used to come in 20 lb at a time. It fits alot of the ones in the same catagory, then I put a label on the bucket and just go to that category- animals, plants, Holidays, people, places, things...
BUT if I do not put in back, that is how they get misplaced and I cannot find my wonderful cup of tea stamp for several years. It's a lady in a big flowered tea cup, like a tea bath. So cute and I had used it to make a bunch of stamped images so I could color them and not always have to go stamp the design when I needed one. I love that stamp to send someone some tea bags (individually wrapped) in a card! I have another horse stamp I did the same thing with and one day they will be found. But I am still not unpacked from moving 6 or so years ago, we need some shelves built for several rooms and the Man is procrastinating-still. But as long as he gives me leeway for still having things in boxes(to an extent) I can deal with it. mostly kitchen stuff is still boxed and craft stuff. LOL! and some I have been into and taken an item or 2 out and resealed the box(I do know that is cheating at unpacking but when I need embossing powder or other stuff it's ok)
So is there place I can go to get the info on organizing from here? Thanks for any info and I know I am way behind on the board as well as organizing
This link should get you to the thread where you can sign up for the whole 27 week organization class. Each week, they will send you an email with information about specific areas in your crafting space. They will just send the ideas etc. You can go as fast or as slow as you want.
