Get Organized: Brainstorming

I am big on a curved desk that would be great then some cabinets to the side and in the middle a big island!!! But I am still not too sure on wall color.
Pale orchid or lilac mayeby!!! Right now I am just really thankful that I have my very own scrap room!!!

I'm always dreaming about having my own scrap room again. It'll have to wait until we move. But its going to be pink and purple with lots of storage and work space!

My husband even suggested I should hot glue designs on the wall and then throw glitter at it! I can just see myself doing that

Hi my name is tree and i am very grateful for the excellent timing of this course. I just finished renovations on my apartment and everything i own is in boxes. I'm a little afraid to unpack - i opened three boxes and it looks like confetti exploded all over my studio. I look forward to going through this process with you. I don't really know how to do anything so I hope my learning curve improves. I can't even load the cute icon

I have never been on a forum before and I'm not confident that i am doing this correctly. My vision for the studio space is open space and plenty of tranquil organization. You will see why this is important to me if you go to the gallery and see the photo i posted of my studio while i was packing up for renovations. It's pretty scary.
I prepared for retirement by indiscriminately collecting art supplies for about a decade and putting them in this room. Now my job is to edit out what i don't plan to use.
I chose to work in the area of visual journals, collage and painting. I love to push paint. Because i collage i have a lot of paper and what i learn here with and from you guys will help me to organize that media.
I want to have a place for everything. oh, and i want to learn how to use a heat gun - i just bought one a few weeks ago and i'm a little terrified of it.
I'm really glad to be here and i look forward to learning a lot including how to navigate and function well in a forum.

The heat gun is pretty easy to operate! I'm sure if you look on YouTube you can find a video of someone demonstrating it, then maybe you won't be so terrified!

The heat gun is no more scary than a hair-dryer. In fact even less so, because although it is hotter, the air comes out much more slowly. Try plugging it in and trying it out without actually embossing anything?

When you say "the cute icon", do you mean Smilies? See to the left of the Quick Reply it says Use Smilies?

I don't know where else to post these. It's week 2 of the getting organized classes. I think I'm to include my dreams and a before photo. My dream would be a central table with all my supplies behind and at the sides of the room surrounding me. An Expedit bookcase for albums and photo boxes somewhere. Can't concept where to put my Cricut yet but I'll get there!! I just basically want more order, less, alot less, clutter. I'm both a digger and a seperator.

Hi Jill and everyone! I really enjoyed reading about everyone's dream scrapbook space. I'm a little behind the ball in class for a variety of reasons; however, I'm still going to stick with it. I found it difficult to do this exercise because I just kept coming back to reality! So, I'm taking my foundation for what it is and building my dream on it.

First is lighting my space. I am blessed with wonderful natural light in my studio. However, I will need appropriate lighting for scrapping into the wee hours of the morning. How to use these great full-spectrum light bulbs? The light should come from the ceiling not a free-standing lamp. It should illuminate my whole table, not just a small patch.

I think my dream stops there for right now. Time to call an electrician. But, please, any ideas about lights suspended from the ceiling would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi! I've gotten up through week 3 e-mails but am a bit behind on posting on the forum and even getting started with the week 1 information.

If you could have the ideal room or space, what would it contain and what would it look like?
Well, I have a room I can dedicate to scrapping and I'm so excited about it I can hardly stand the wait for my things from Ohio.
My room will be cheerful, inviting and inspirational. I'm working on ideas to get it there so that part is a work in progress. I would have lots of shelving but I'm not sure if I'm going to do individual bookshelves or shelves on the wall. I also would have lots of surface area for my tools and of course a table for crafting.
Oh yeah, My name is Amy and I'm currently in Sunny South Carolina but all my stuff is in storage is in Ohio awaiting me to rescue it from the cold.

First of all, I would like a separate room for my space, instead of having to cram everything in with my bedroom items. Right now, it's a maze to get around my bed to get to my space, especially if my room isn't spotless. I can't access either of my closets because I have so much stuff and not enough space, or at least I'm not making good enough use of my space at the moment.

So, my ideal room would be separate from everything else, and just for scrapbooking. It would have everything I need neatly organized and within reach. I would also have a good lock on the door so I can leave in the middle of a project and not worry about little hands messing with my glitter (again!) or going through all my pictures and supplies. My room would be bright, preferrably from natural light coming in from a large window, or I'd have good lighting when it's dark outside.

My dream space is always changing. Since we are a military family, I won't get my true dream space until my hubby retires in about 6 or 7 years. Until then, I just want something that will work for me at the current time.

I do have a ongoing list in my head of items I want in my dream space though.

Hi, I am Ewa from Sweden and I am a true sorter Even the smallest piece of paper goes into my color-sorted storage for scraps.... I guess that my big paper-scraps-collection will be a bit smaller after this class, and more useful.

My dreamarea would be LARGE! Maybe even several rooms dedicated for different purposes In one of the rooms it would be possible to splash color over wall-sized paper! Wouldn't that be fun!! I would not have any troubles to fill up the rooms in a castle I guss..... And imagine a large room in a tower with huge windows viewing different part of the gigantic garden with peacocks walking around in it. I so feel my mojo coming!!

Hi, I have uploaded pics of my studio in my gallery as not sure how to link them to this post! My dream would be more storage and more labelling to know what i have and where everything is.

Currently my room is in the basement next to my washer and dryer. My dream space would be an actual room that I could decorate and feel comfortable in. Another "must have" would be work stations...dedicated areas for my computer, pazzle, supplies, etc. I make due with the space I have, but if I want to use my Pazzle and computer, I have to go to another part of the basement to do it. I would also like a space for my kids to come. They enjoy crafting with me and often there is not enough room unless I move stuff around.

My current room is in our dining-room, but when I finish this organizing it will be in a bedroom. My ideal room would be one that I can have built ins in, a big pegboard that takes up half a wall, an area for finished projects, more then one area to scrap or do my work as I do more then one type of crafting. I make jewelry, woodburn, make candles, paint and draw and scrapbook, plus sew. I would like three spots to do stuff...my ideal area would be a house that had a finished basement and I could use over half the basement for my creative space. That will have to come later in life.

Now that my teens are out of school for a couple weeks, I am going to work on my scrap-nook! We moved in June and I just put things were I thought they should go...and its not working!

I just signed up for this class, and I see where it says you can work ahead, but I can't find the link that allows me to do so. I am currently working on the space assessment handout, but would like to move on after that. Any help appreciated!

I know I'm a little late to this rodeo....like two years too late, but I'm going to throw in my two cents for what it's worth. Right now my creative space is on the second floor... all my life I dreamed of having a two story home in CA, now that I'm all 'growed up' with a bad knee and shoulder I am wanting a single story home...but that's a whole other story. Anyhow, for some reason or another I have once again managed to corner myself in in my creative space. For me it's all about having things at arm's reach. My creative space is also carpeted (just haven't haven't had the funds or time to put in hardwood floors which I want so desperately) and sometimes makes it a cleaning nightmare. My dream space would have hardwood floors with a portable paint splash for when I break out the canvases. It would also have a huge window to let in natural light...and it would be on the first floor and easily accessible to the kitchen and garage...

I haven't started my first book yet. I don't really have a place to work on it yet. Since my master bedroom is also the place where I store my crafting and scrapbooking supplies. I have been trying to add cabinets and different odds and ends to my bedroom to help make more room for all of the stuff but its just not working for me. So I know I need to get rid of a few things to make things easier to move around and to be able to get started on my book. So the plan is for the next few days clean out the closet and organize the stuff for crafting and scrapbooking. And the also the clothing. I like to collect my scrapbooking supplies as well as crafting supplies but I would rather make shore my big butt is covered up as well. So the clothing will go in one half of the closet and I will remove the drawers from my 3 drawer carts and paint the carts and drawers so they match and I will use them to organize the crafting and scrapbooking supplies. After that I will tinker around in the bedroom its self to make shore there is room to do what I need to do from getting dressed to making a few scrapbook pages. I have also gotten some really pretty wallpaper to put up I just don't think there's enough of it I will need to find something that matches it online before I put it up. I hope for the best but when the worst happens I just close my eyes and so oh well that's what diying is all about.
