Speaking of Xyron....

I have decided to invest in a Xyron machine, but don't know which one. Does anyone have any feelings about which one would be the best investment? Do you use it for small items more, or full pages? I'm thinking the 850 would be a middle of the road choice.

Any feedback?

I have the 850 (I bought it at Walmart for $59.99 under the name EZlaminator, but inside the box was a Xyron 850!But no one can find them anymore) and I also have the xyron 500.

I much prefer the quality and versatility of the 850 over the 500 but many times the 5" size is big enough and I feel I am wasting product with the 8.5"

So . . . I have ordered the 510 from QVC and will give away the 500.

If you are only getting one I think you have to decide what you think you will use it for and what size you will be happy with. If you are doing full pages and do 12x12 then you would want the 1200.

I got the 850 from QVC during its time as Today's Special. I love it. I see what you mean about wasting product though but the size is idea for preserving many school projects. I usually scrap 12x12 but I find the 8.5" allows me to do much of what I need so the 850 serves my purpose.

I love it.

PS My six year old son loves it too. Tonight we laminated several art drawings to make a book.

Sigh- Wish I had bought the today's special (what a price!) but I had just bought the CIS Navigator and couldn't possibly exlpain another $100 scrapbook tool to my hubby. Seems like a great deal and I doubt I will be able to stay away long- does anyone have the smallest size? (I think I can get that at Michaels with the 40% off coupon)...

I have the 500 and just heard about the 510 --should have waited a couple of months...anyway, I love the 500 anyway and I was thinking about getting the 1200 just so I would be able to do bigger projects if I ever wanted to....if Michaels stocks it, you can use your coupon (you can use it on everything there, as long as it's not on sale)...of course, they probably won't get it for a while and when they do it, they will sell out very fast the first couple of times...by then the price will be down anyway...back to xyron, maybe get the 500 (or 510) for little things and the 1200 for the bigger things

Michaels is carrying the 510; it's $99 I don't know how much the refills are--they didn't have those yet...anyway, I just thought I'd let y'all know...if it's not a sale you can use a 40% off coupon, which would make it $60...as far as I can tell (please correct me if I'm wrong)the difference between the 500 and the 510 is you can make magnets with the 510 and not the 500...the 500 is around $30 and refills are $14....

The differences between the 500 and the 510 are that the 500 is ONLY a sticker maker (you can get perm. or removable adhesive) and it is built different than the other models. It cuts the paper off differently and it is harder to to feed in small things. Also the plastic paper on top stays in the machine so it can be a littler messier.

The 510 is a smaller version of the others. It has magnetic, laminate and adhesive refills. It cuts paper like the bigger ones and little things feed in like the bigger Xyrons.

I had the 500 and gave it away and got the 510 because it was more versatile. Even though I have the 810 I got the 510 also because for smaller things there is less waste.

I asked this question originally 2 months ago, and before I could decide what I wanted, my husband gave me the Xyron 510 for Valentine's Day. We both love it. He seems to use it as much as I do. And he is always saying, "do you think I could use it to....".

He ordered it off the QVC website, for $50 plus shipping. I'm glad to hear that Michael's now carries it, and I hope they have the refills soon, it is a pain to order them online. I don't like to wait for anything!!
