Does anyone use chalk?

I met a girl who uses chalk to enhance her die cits and for other things and I'm thinking about trying it, but I'm not exactaly sure what I can do with it. I've skimed through this board and can't find that anyone has brought up this subject, and I'm wondering if anyone even uses this. Does anyone have helpful hints and how well do you like using chalk, if you do?

chalk is WONDERFUL!!!! I believe there's a really good article on chalking at http://www.gracefulbee.com It gives so much dimension to die cuts, punch art, lettering--you can use it on anything. Give a rustic look to photo mats or embellishments on heritage pages with brown chalk, add shading to things, highlight, put those rosy cheeks on paper dolls.....I could go on and on! You might also check http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com go to let's scrapbook and look under the tips and ideas or even in the message board part for chalking ideas. I'll look around a little more and see if I can find more examples to look at.

I too use chlk there are so many ways to use it. Just experiment with it and will soon be loving it too.

Thank you sooo much!! Those sites were a big help! Now I can't wait to go out and buy some chalk to try out! Which brings me to another question: Where do you find the chalks? I've looked at Micheal's twice and couldn't find it. (Maybe I'm just blind, or it's in a different section)

Michaels doesn't carry it..I've looked there too! I got mine at Ben Franklin but they should have it at your lss. if not try http://www.scrapbooksuperstore.com--i suggest going ahead and getting the bigger box of chalk for about $5.00 more get 25 colors instead of 9 colors. On another note, I've heard (haven't tried it yet) that if you use a blender pen with your chalk (lightly dip the pen tip into the chalk and then use it like a paint brush) you get a watercolor look on whatever you were chalking.

I have found chalks at Michaels. I had to look several times before they were in, but they were beside the punches and across from the stamps at my store. They are also online and my LSS also has them. Hey I just looked and scrapbook.com has them here! I love to play with these and the look they give items. Anyone can feel like an artist when they use chalks. I recommend them heartily!!

Chalks are great! I use mine with stamps and a light or white stamp pad. Stamp the image and then brush your chosen chalk color over the image with a make-up applicator. The image just pops out. I do this on both cards and scrapbook pages, and chalks are acid free and safe for your pages.

Chalks are a great way to add softness to your pages...I just love them. We sell them but they are now on the retired list, BOOHOO...hopefully they are just replacing them with something better. My customers have been buying them up because they love seeing me demo them. They are FUN! I highly recommend getting some!

TO set them...DON'T USE HAIRSPRAY! - I have heard people at lss tell their customers this. Why would you want that on your pictures? GEEZ...just turn it over and on top of another piece of paper rub a wooden spoon over it -this is called burnishing. It should set it just fine!
