What is the best adhesive?

What is your favourite adhesive? I've seen lots of mention of herma-fix, as well as sailor glue and glue dots. Do you use something different for different things? I'm still so new to this and could sure use some input. I found that the photo glue stick that I used was no good, since my photos were falling off the layouts. So much for preserving them well........

I use photo splits for sticking down pics, because those are more archivally safe than glue sticks, glue stick (elmers craft bond, $1.99 @ Target!) Zig two way pen for detail work too. And you can't beat the Tombow mono multi adhesive for glueing down stuff like fibers and jewels. Oh, and Glue Dots for misc items like buttons and charms. Some adhesives just work better for certain jobs!

I use a variety of adhesives as well, depending on what I'm adhering. My general favorite for most things is the Tombo/Mono permanent adhesive. However, when I'm adhering large pieces of paper, I generally use photo tape. For pics, I typically use the tape runner by Creative Memories so I can vary how much adhesive I put down because the pieces are segmented so small. For very intricate designs, I either use my Xyron or the Zig glue pen. Glue dots are great for fibers and other embellishments. The Hermafix is nice but not permanent - I use it to temporarily adhere items sometimes when I'm putting a lo together. Finally, I'm a fan of Scotch's Vellum adhesive.

All in all, I think you'll find you'll want/need different types of adhesives in your scrapbooking.

I definitely use different adhesives for different applications. My all-around fave that I use for mounting pics, cardstock, etc. is Hermafix tabs. For adhering things like buttons, charms, fibers I use Memory Book and Mini Glue Dots. If I am doing punch art or mounting hand cut titles (or anything with very thin pieces), I usually use Tombow MonoMulti Glue, Zig 2-way Glue or my Sailor glue pen. I also have a Xyron that is great for mounting vellum, titles, completed punch art, etc.

this is one question that you'll get a million answers to. Everyone has their own favorite adhesive. I started out using glue sticks and then moved on to photo splits. Last week though, I bought the hermafix glue dot thingies. I *love* those. They're so easy to use! I still use my photo splits but the hermafix goes on so quick and so easily, it's my current favorite.

I used to use the photo mounting squares and then found that Hermafix has a dispenser for those so I use that now. For smaller things like punches or letters, I use my Xyron 150 or 510.

I'm a Hermafix fan! I use the tabs for my pictures and journal boxes, and the mini dots for almost everything else. The glue dots are not permanent at first, but become permanent over time. I haven't had any trouble with things coming loose, anyway. The wonderful thing about them is that you can put them down and attach what you need to and then brush away what you don't need.

I also use my mini xyron for smaller pieces.

I am a huge hermafix fan. I also love my little xyron. It makes paper piecing with tiny pieces soooo much easier!

HERMAFIX HERMAFIX HERMAFIX! Did I mention Hermafix? lol I use the Vario Tabs. They are awesome and I couldn't live without them! I use my Zig 2-way glue for things like Twistel that need a wet glue. For most embellishments, I use Memory Book Glue Dots. And I use my Xyron quite a bit - for small things as well as vellum. It's a terrific time saver!

The Hermafix tabs for photos are my favorites. I love the mini xyron for small paperpiecings, much less mess!

For paper to paper: Elmer's Glue Stick
For pictures to paper: photo squares
For embellishments to paper: hermafix, glue dots, or scrappy glue (liquid glue made by Magic Scraps)
For quilling: Scrappy glue
For vellum: Scotch's double sided tape pen (the purple one that is talked about on another thread here - it rocks! )

I also use the zig 2 way glue pen, and another double sided tape dispenser thing that I can't remember the name of, and the Kokuyo double sided tape.
