Making Stamps With Sizzix Dies

On the sizzix website they give ideas for using their products. One of the ideas they mention is making stamps from dies. You use the machine to cut out the shapes from advesive foam. It sounds like a great idea, and I am thinking about trying it. Has anyone else tried it? Any tips or problems? I have a regular machine, and a sdekick, which would work better? Thanks.

I do it all the time, and got a buddy hooked on it, too.

If you have a Cuttlebug, you can die cut foam with ANY die, even the Sizzlits, which is particularly awesome.

You can also buy sheets of compressed sponge, designed to be cut into sponge stamps. They die cut great, and give you an alternative look.

I've made lots of stamps using adhesive foam in my Original Sizzix machine. They hold up really well and clean easily with Dollar Tree Baby Wipes.

You can also use the embossing plates and emboss the designs onto craft foam to make stamps. These are great for backgrounds, since you can make them as large as the embossing plates.

I do it all the time- I LOVE being able to make whatever stamps I want. I usually use my letters from the sizzlits (yes, they will cut sticky back foam) and cut them backwards so they make the reverse image and then it's the right way when it's stamped. It's fun- you'll become addicted! Get the foam when it's on sale!!! 8o) I just stick mine to a small acrylic block and peel them off when I'm done. I usually just toss the letters after I'm done with my project since I don't have any place to store them and the foam is pretty cheap. Have fun!

What do you put the foam on? I mean after you cut it out?

I usually use either Tack-n-Peel on acrylic, or permanently attach them to something.

I just use a $1 block from the $1 bin- or something that I can use that's similar. A CD or cassette case would work too most likely! If I can't get the sticky off then I just use olive oil or goof off on it. I'm sure it's destroying my blocks but whatever- I can get more!
