What Am I Doing Wrong? (Embossing Powder)

I'm having problems using embossing powder with a heat tool over ink. I know I'm to stamp the image with a pigment ink, then sprinkle the embossing powder, then heat. It seems the ink does not stay wet long enough for me to get the powder on & heated. That's the only thing I can think.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

When I emboss I have my powder ready and as soon as I've stamped (I don't even take the time to close my stamp box) I immediately dump (literally) a ton of powder all over the image. Then I shake the excess off it. I learned a great tip from a poster a few weeks ago who suggested using your heat tool on the other side of the paper, because that way the powder isn't blown off. Keep a smile M.

What kind of pigment ink are you using?

And are you using a colored embossing powder?

I really recommend getting a Versamark Watermark stamp pad- the embossing powder really sticks to it, and the results look great.

I've tried some inks that say they're good for embossing, too, and they've not worked well AT ALL. So sometimes, it could just be the ink...

Versamark Watermark...they give the best results so I'm with kory on that one. It's the only thing I use to emboss. To me it seems kinda pointless to use pigment ink when you covering it with emboss powder. The Versamark is clear and stays wet long enough for you to put the powder over it.

I too use Versamark ! Nothing like it !

Versamark is wonderful!

I also like to use Ranger Distress Ink with clear embossing powder. I've never had a problem with it drying too fast.
