Cricut Question...

Okay, I have a question. I am not sure how to pronounce "Cricut." Is it pronounced "Cricket" or "CRY-cut"???

The reason I ask is that my best friend and I were in M's, in the Sizzix aisle, and we were discussing the Cricut. I was mentioning I wanted one with the next tax refund, and showing her which carts I wanted. I was pronouncing it "Cricket."

Well, this LARGE woman (twice my size, took up half the aisle) sashays by us and rudely interjects, "It's CRY-cut!"

So, my question to you girls is who is right? Me or Rude-zilla? (I have already learned from this website how to properly pronounce Bazzill . Hoping to learn again!)

Every employee at my LSS pronounces it Cicket...and everybody at the convention I went to said cricket...so I think you are right

I saw the correct pronunciation somewhere (I think on the PC site) that it is Cricket like the bug, that's why everyone refers to it as a little bug. Crycut just doesn't even make sense to me.

There's even a pic of a CRICKET on the package! You should have pointed that out to rudezilla, Ria. She would have felt stupid then! LOL!

I say it like is looks: Bazzul, right?

Or does it have some fancy pronunciation that is not evident in the way it is spelled?

I thought it was Crycut too until I saw the little bug on the machine!

If you go to there website they have a little demo of what it can do, they always refer to it as cricket. So that's good enough for me.

I say "buh-zill" like brazil but without the "r"...but I think it is really bazzle like razzle dazzle...I just can't seem to change the way I say it!

So Ria, did you get one? I wish I knew someone who had one, I rely heavily on what everyone here says about stuff, since i never actually see stuff LOL!!

It is indeed Razzle-Dazzle-Bazzill. And Cricket. Darn rude people.... well, she'll feel dumb when she's eventually corrected. And you can bask in knowing you were right.

Thank you girls for setting me straight. I knewe I was right. I told my friend that rudezilla should just leave people alone and not correct people unless she's POSITIVE she's right. People like that irk me.

No, unfortunately I didn't get one that day. I promised hubby I wouldn't buy anything that pricey until tax-refund time. I'm not getting a new laptop like I want because I want Microsoft to have a year to get the kinks worked out on Vista. So I'm getting a Cricut (says "Cricket") instead.

I thought about a WB or other computer-operated cutter because I have thousands of fonts (I have a little font fetish). However, I don't want to have to lug my lappy anywhere if I decide to go to a crop. I have to help Jory's teacher with their year-end project: fourth-grade scrapbooks. I don't want to have to drag lappy and WB, I'd rather just drag Cuttlebug, Sizzix, and Cricut.

I was told it was Cricket, although I did start off calling it Crycut!!!LOL!!!

You were right, I can't believe how rude some people are!! It's cricket like the insect, or bug \, hence the cricket on their logo etc etc, if you go to the provocraft website you'll see they also say there that it's cricket - like the bug.

lol I started out saying cry-cut myself - but was also corrected (albeit much more politely!), anyhow I went to their website to find out for myself, low and behold - yep it was cricket like the bug That would also explain why some people refer to their crict as 'my bug' and now that the expression is out "little bug" and "big bug"

oh I just remembered this a few months ago I called a Joann's once to ask if they had any of the cartridges that were on sale (they were clearing out some carts and they were like 25 bucks each but I digress)... anyhow I asked if they had any 'cricket' cartridges - listed off the ones I was looking for and the employee in a very annoyed voice says, NO, we do NOT carry any CRY-CUT stuff (making sure to say CRY-CUT to not so nicely correct me). I got off the phone laughing to myself thinking some day you'll be put in your place and you'll feel dumb for being all high and mighty about the pronounciation... and your store doesn't even carry it!!!! *giggle*

That is funny! That's how rudezilla was. Looked down her nose at me, sniffed, and said all haughty, "It's CRY-cut!" "Cry-cut" makes absolutely NO sense...otherwise why would they put a cricket on the package???? The PC site DOES say it "cricket," now that I think of it. I saw the video and want one.

There is a bug on the package...it is like the bug.

That's what I was thinking, too, Tina. The PC site said it "cricket." The video I saw on YouTube with Lisa Bearnson describing her favorite stuff, Lisa pronounced it "Cricket."

if you pull up the CriCut in SB.C superstore there is a video...they say it like criket.
