Using Black Paper and Gel Pens

Ok, I was updating my myspace page and realized that the profile pic of my daughter and the background would look great as a scrapbook layout lol. It looks like I would need black paper, but I want the purple lettering and design. Would i need to get one of those gel pens that works on black paper? Would i need a stencil to make the designs?

Here is the myspace page... any ideas? I was set as private, but i made it public for u all to see it

i would think any marker /pen would work as long as it would show up on black paper

you can free hand the designs if you are good at it..

There are some cool metallic pens that write in silver but with purple (or red/blue/green) edging around it. I think that would be easier to see on black paper or CS than a solid purple gel pen. And I'd definitely use a stencil, or outline your design first in pencil, before tracing it out in the pen.

I love using my souffe pens on black, they really stand out.

They're usually called Shadow Purple, or red or green, etc. They're pretty neat.

If you want a more intense look, and you have a steady hand (which I do NOT), you can use a white gel pen first, then go back over it with a color or sparkle.

I usually find that the gel pens show up the best. If you're good at freehand drawing I would just do it that way.

I would definately use a stencil for the design and then spend some time trying out different pens in the pen aisle at Michael's or something. I SO don't have a steady hand and gel pen's can either be your best friend or your worst nightmare. You just have to find the right one that has the best quality for what you're doing.

Here's a LO where I used a white paint pen and the Sakura Souffle pens.

I personally always use the SIgno white pen on everything; it never fails and writes perfectly each and every time!!!1 look at my gallery and see the white pen I use; It's amazing, costs about $3.50 but is worth every dime!

I have a Signo and actually I hate it. I must have gotten the bad one of the bunch, because it skips, it dries up mid line, it's just awful.

My local office store carries the Signos. I'll have to pick one up and see if I have a better experience!
