Please HELP me stop the bleeding!!

Okay, I know that I must have seen this question asked before, but of course I can't find it now. I am making some invitations using vellum. I printed my rough draft, and it came out perfectly. Then when I started printing the real thing, using the same pack of vellum, I can't get it to print right. I cannot tell the difference between the two sides, they seem exactly the same. I have printed on both sides of the same sheet, and still... It keeps bleeding!! What am I doing wrong? After ruining a couple sheets, I did some research and changed my printer setting to transparency. I am still having the same problem. Can anybody help me with this? I need to get these done, and have already had some setbacks, so this is really last minute. Please help!!! Thanks guys, I appreciate it!!

I am pretty certain that I chose glossy photo paper as my option when printing on vellum, but it has been a while.

I set mine for transparency - it usually works just fine!

Try adjusting your ink level to low.

I usually choose the second lowest setting for printing. I have a Dell and the lowest is quickprint so I choose the next one up and I let the printer automatically choose the paper type setting...I've never had a problem with the ink bleeding this way.

I am learning so much on this sight. I would not have thought about changing the settng to transparency or glossy photo for vellum paper until a major problem happened.

I've had the same problem too with printing on vellum.

I set my printer to either glossy or photo paper and make sure I select the "dry time delay", and it seems to print fine for me.

Thanks guys for all of your help, so far lowering the ink level is working better, but it is still bleeding. I have a dell also, and the one above quick print is normal, and that is where I was having the problem. I tried quick print, and no bleeding, so If I have the problem anymore, I may just quick print, let it dry and quick print it again. Thanks again everyone

i always set my type of paper to "transparency"...it has worked for me...someone told me at one time or another that the transparency setting uses less ink.

Try adjusting the qulaity of the print too. The better quality settings will put more ink on the page. I also used my heat gun to gry mine when they came out of the printer. Good luck! I know how stressful this can be!

Thanks guys for all of your help. I ended up just using a different vellum. I tried all of the suggestions, and even reduced my printer ink to the lowest line. It must just be the vellum. It has me stumped, since the first one was perfect and from the same package. I went through 2 different packs and had the same problem. Anyway, the one I am using now has dots, kind of looks like confetti, I have had it all along, but didn't really want the dots. Still by the same company, but this one doesn't bleed, go figure!! Anyway, it will have to do. Thanks again guys

hope you get it to work - i've never printed on vellum so i can't be much help. sorry. but glad to know you're not bleeding to death.

The only reason I read the topic was because I wanted to see what happened. I never knew someone to bleed from scrapbooking. hahaha I was going to avoid whatever she did! Back to the real question, I bet you just got some stubborn vellum that would not soak up your ink.

Hey guys, just wanted to update. I ended up needing a few more, b/c I cut some wrong, ugh. Anyway, I opened a brand new package, just like the first ones I was using... Printed perfectly!! I guess it must have just been the vellum. Bummer to think that when you buy the stuff it is going to be hit and miss, ugh. Oh, I forgot to mention, that only the black in bled, the color ink never did. Strange. Anyway, I am all done, wooohooooooooooo!!!! Thanks everyone for your help, ideas, tips, support, etc. I knew I could count on my neigbors

When I click on print and the print box pops up, I click on Properties, and my dry time delay is located at the bottom. It's just a little box that I need to put a check mark in.

There is a product which solves all the problems of printing on vellum (and transparencies, twill tape, ribbon, shrink plastic, etc...The Perfect Printing Pouch!
