Rubber Stamp Question

I heard about people removing stamps from the wooden block to store them easier.. So for my own curiosity I was wondering how exactly they get used without the wood acting as a handle of sorts. I only own a few stamps, but I am hoping to get some used, and incase they were already like that, I was curious. Thanks

I know some people buy a product called Aleens Tack it over and over. It is a sort of glue you apply to the back of the stamp...let dry and then you can put it on an acyrlic block or clear glass plate or lid and stampe with it. The Tack it lasts for some time depending on amount of use and when it no longer sticks, just re apply.

I think you can also use double stick tape to do the same thing, but it probably would need to be replaced more often

you can also use static mount foam. ONce this is added to the back of a stamp, it allows you to use it just like an acrylic stamp with a clear block.

tsI've recently taken some of my wood stamps off the blocek and I love 'em!! I used the product I'lllink below. You put it on your block and it makes it sticky. It has a clear plastic you put ontop of ht block when you're done so the block stays sticky for next time. Also you can use the other side of the block w/o this stuff added afor your acrylic stamps.

I found that when I used double stick tape sometimes mys tamp shifted a bit and my image wasn't as crisp. Could just be "operator" error!!

static mount foam is my favorite. The foam gives you a better stamp impression and the cling makes using acrylic blocks so easy.

I did this with all 600 of my wooden stamps and most of the stamps are still sticky from the original adhesive and so the stick to the acrylic block that way but some of them are not so I just use my removable adhesive for that. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions I am happy to help.

I just did this with some of my stamps using EZ Mount foam. One side is sticky (to attach to the stamp itself), the other is clingy to stick to your acrylic block. I actually found EZ Mount at Pat Catan's for about $3 a sheet. (I think it was around 12x12 sized)

Okay, first off I am sorry to hijack this thread with a question, so my apologies to the original poster:

But... Can anyone tell me why people are removing their stamps from the wood mounted block? Is it just a storage/space issue or is there another reason? I have easily 100 wood block mounted stamps and I prefer them over the acrylic stamps. I have not unmounted any of mine because I don't know why I would (I don't have a storage/space issue). Can anyone enlighten me?

I think it is a storage issue mainly. It's also nice to use your stamps with an acrylic block so you can see exactly where you're stamping.

I haven't unmounted all of mine yet. I mainly bought the EZ Mount because I had a set I'd bought a while ago of rubber unmounted stamps. I'd never figured out how to use them until recently.

Thank you for the explanation. I think I will be leaving mine on the blocks. It's pretty easy for me to know where I am lining things up at (I've been stampin' since I was 13, which is a lot of years!) so I guess maybe I am just used to doing it this way.

no worries, thats kind of why I was asking also (I am the original poster) I am looking to get some for a cheap price on ebay and I didnt want to not get unmounted if there was a way to still use them. I still think I like the wood mount but I can also see why it would be nice to be able to see exactly where it was going.
