Cheaper machine that uses Cricut cartridges?

Hi all!

I've never done any scrapbooking. I have an album I want to make, and I really want to use frames I saw in a Cricut cartridge. I asked a woman I know that already has this cartridge if she'd be willing to cut around 100 of these frames and I would pay her for the paper/card stock, her time, as well as shipping. She asked almost as much as a Cricut machine not including shipping.

I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a machine I'm going to use for this one project. Are there any cheaper machines that are compatible with Cricut cartridges?

Any tips would be appreciated!

That cartridge will only work in a Cricut.You can buy a Cricut Create (smaller uses a 6x12 inch mat) and then buy the cartridge...neighborhood of $139.

Or the Cricut Mini- I've seen them on sale as low as $70.00
That machine has to be used with the Cricut Craftroom (free online software through Cricut).
The mat size is a little bigger than the Create- it is 8 1/2 x12

Is the Sizzix Big Shoot cheaper. They have frames too.

This is the cartridge I need http://www.joann.com/provo-craft-cricut-shape-cartridge-happy-haunting/10181915.html#prefn1=isProject&prefn2=brand&prefv2=Cricut&prefv1=false&start=18 it doesn't have Cricut Mini listed as a compatible machine. It will work though?

It will work. All Cricut cartridges work with all Cricut machines. (Except for Imagine cartridges, which on,y work with the Imagine, which is discontinued)

You could also look on Etsy to see if anyone has the frame or something similar...

Hope you have had some success getting the frames you wanted. The lady who was going to charge you might have figured in the price of her cutting blade and the sticky sheet she uses. You could look into getting a Cuttlebug and a set of Spellbinders frames/dies. I am very sure that would cost less than a Cricut. It is a machine that really never wears out since there is nothing electrical/computerized to wear out.
