Do any of you use Laser printers?

The BF really wants to get a laser printer, but I'm not sure if it'll work with my scrapbooking. Can I print on Vellum w/ a laser? How is the color on them compared to inkjets? I told him we'd have to buy one with color b/c of scrapbooking, but mainly for journaling & extras. I'm not sure if I'd print out photos with it.

I know nothing about printers.

You should be able to do what you want with a laser. I don't have one at home, but I do at work. A laser will also print on transparencies a lot better than inkjet.
I say, go for it.

You cannot print on to normal acetate/transparency sheets as the laser printer will melt them inside! You can only print on to acetate if they are heat resistant acetate sheets.

I have used them in my laserjet. Works great!
Just be sure the transparencies are designed for laserjet printers. The ones for overhead projectors probably would melt.

I also find my laserjet works better than the inkjet for printing on vellum.

we have a laser printer and the printing of journaling and what not on vellum and transparencies will not be a problem. I've printed on everything from vellum to transparencies to fabric to glossy cardstock to tissue paper in ours.

You are right about the printing of the photos though. You will want a photo printer for that. But for daily printing? A color laser cannot be beat! Instead of going through ink cartridges every couple of months or however much you use your printer....you only have to buy the toner maybe every other year? Saves big on those costs. And that is with me printing alot of stuff for DH's dads bar.

If you do decide to get a laser printer, go with HP...we had another brand before our HP and it was a BIG headache!
