Converting 12X12 layouts to 8X8

Topic Closed

I started a 12x12 scrapbook of my hubby's and my dating years and have done about 10 pages. We don't have many pictures from what we did so had a hard time creating layouts with actual pictures. I started it before I really got into scrapbooking and knew my options and now I want to convert all my layouts to 8X8 since I can fill up entire pages with fewer pictures. However, I just went through the 12x12 layouts and there are a few that I can't just recreate easily (like with most of the page filled with hand drawn doodles). There's about half of the 10 that I have that I couldn't just recreate/cut down. Is there a way to scan the 12X12 layouts and reprint them as 8X8's? Obviously regular scanners aren't big enough and I remember hearing/reading about LSS's having scrapbook scanners but what about printing those out?

I want to say you can download them and send them of even take the whole page to your local printing company, like kinkos, or Office Depot, maybe even Walgreens and they can print it the size you want. You may want to surf the web and see if there is a place like Kodak or something and you may be able to download it to a place like that and they can mail the print to you.

Hmmm...do you know how to scan and stitch? Once that is done, just reduce the size by 33% and you can print it on a regular printer.

I have another possible solution if you want to keep the 12x12's that you've already finished. Get on the internet and look up the lyrics to your favorite "dating" songs, print them out and scrap them. Look up the make and models of the cars you and he drove then, save the photos to "My Pictures", print them and scrap them. Get the idea? Where was your favorite fast food place? Drive by and snap a picture or get on the net and see if you can find a photo. Once you get started, you'll probably get addicted to this, LOL! It's a great way to add pages and interest to your album. Scrap your memories, I do.

Kathie, I really like your ideas for having more material to scrap, I'll probably use it to make more pages for my 8X8. It's not that we just didn't take pictures of what we did, it's that we really didn't do much lol I guess you could say we were a "boring" couple, mostly spending time at each other's family's houses, but we enjoyed it. There are a few dates that we went on though that I could get pictures of the locations even if we're not in them.

I do know "how" to scan and stitch however I don't have a good software to stitch it in. The one time I did it I used Microsoft Publisher and you can clearly see the line and one side of the scan came out darker. I only have access to a scanner at my parent's house and I don't think the quality is that great.

I finally googled the right combination of words and found a place in Florida that you can send individual layouts or entire scrapbooks and they charge $.50 per scan and $1.50 per print (for the size I want) on cardstock plus $6 for return shipping so it will only cost me $12 for the layouts I have. I think it's worth that for the outcome and for the time/energy I'll save in scanning/stitching myself since I don't have the tools or knowledge to do it to the quality I want. Thanks for all your help!
