Expanding Post Bound Albums

I was wondering if any one had some advice for expanding a 12x12 post bound album. I know you can get the little extender posts, but how big can you go, and how do you keep your album from "bowing".

Use as many spacers that come with the posts as possible. I use a ratio of 5 page protectors to a spacer.

And post bound albums are best for flat scrappers if the album still bows then D ring is the way to go.

I thought about the D-ring type, but i was worried it wouldn't look formal enough for a wedding book I am planning for a friend.

If you do decide to go with post bound, places like Office Depot and Office Max have in their catalogs longer "posts" rather than taking several 1/2 inch posts and screwing them together. I find that they work so much better.

I did post bound albums for years, and now have D ring, and wouldn't give them up at gunpoint. No more struggling to put expanders in, and you can add and move pages as you wish without trouble.

I wouldn't go pass four. They get pretty wobbly after that especially if you use a lot of thick embellies.

In the past, if I have one that is huge (like every cruise and every trip I have been on LOL) I make a volume 1 and 2. Much easier to handle.

I only use post albums. After I finish all my pages, I calculate what size post I will need and order them from a site which carries solid posts ranging from 1/4" up to 5" in all sorts of increments. The solid posts are far sturdier than the extenders. If you want the website, feel free to peamail me.

I have one of these Snap Loads, but haven't tried it yet. I truly love my D-Ring albums, and will stick with them. But I agree about them perhaps being too informal for a wedding album.

I tried that exact pioneer snap load thing and after a couple years it just fell apart cause the adhesive had just quit working and was dry. I loved it when i'd first got them.

I currently just have all my pages in a big cute decorative box that a dear friend bought me for my birthday.

Snap loads break too easily and are worst for pac man style albums.

I wondered about the adhesive for the Snap Load. I was going to use it for a gift album, and now I'm glad I went with the D ring.

What I called Holly's album; you know the one?

Because snap loads need to be very very tight at the spine. They are the worst for developing the wedge shape.

I use snap load systems for tiny gift albums that won't be used much and don't take much weight.

I still had to replace the snaps in one of those gift albums. But quite often they cost 99 cents for a pair of snaps so it's not the end of the world. Just don't put 40+ layouts in one and expect to get a nice flat strong album.

I'm with you! After years of using the post bound with the extenders and then the little screws!! UGH! I will NEVER go back !! I love my D ring binders! Yes, they are more expensive (I always use a coupon though) but SO worth it!

I had my DD's baby alubm in a postbound. I had two extenders and it fit quite a lot of pages. I think it would be fine for wedding gift. I liked the look but then decided I wanted to do 0-15 and give it to her for her Quincenero so I transitioned to a D ring because I know it will be huge!

Thank you for all the responses. I think that I will get all of the pages done, and then see how huge it gets. Looking around in the store, it does seem like they make a lot of nice albums with D rings these days.
