Scorpal vs Martha's Scoring Board

I've been thinking about getting a scoring board for awhile now. I was pretty sure I was going to get a scor-pal, but now I see that Martha Stewart has a scoring board and it's cheaper. I could really use some insights etc. on which one I should get. Thank you!

Hmmmmm.... not really sure.
I will check out the Martha Stewart range sometime this weekend of next to see if there ok.

I have a Scor Pal and I love it! I have seen the Martha Stewart ones as well and noticed they were much cheaper - I think half the price!

When I got the Scor Pal I noticed that it had a few measuring lines, which is perfect for me. But the Martha Stewart one has several scoring lines, which could be potentially confusing or in my case, could create a lot of mishaps when my scoring pen slips...hehe.

I got the MS scoring board half price with a coupon at M's after reading the blog that Lisa linked,,,,,

it's wonderful,,,,it has more scoring lines, which means more possibilities. Its more than adequate for my needs. I lost the actual scoring tool, so I've been using the dull side of a butter knife until I get a chance to buy a new one,,,,,

How does one lose the knife-thingy?? Only in my house

another vote for the MS board. LOVE that thing! I've made so many cards- it's set up for 1/8" scoring so you can get it just right. The envelope template is really handy too. AND it's very easy to use both. It stores upright on top of my fiskars 12" paper cutter too in the slot that the paper cutter fits in! Get it- you won't be sorry.

My vote is MS. It's marked every 1/8" all the way across the scorepal isn't.

Another vote for the MS. It is very easy to use and once you figure out how to make an envelope that is 3asy to do also.

I've never tried the envie thing,,,what size envelope does it make, or does it make more than one size???

we use the scor pal at work(archivers) for our classes .......the customers seem to really like it ......I have a scoring blade on my fiskars trimmer and thats what I use at home

went to work today .....we just got in the MS ......OMG its fab! ......I would def get the MS!!!!

OMG! It makes like EVERY size! If you pull out the envelope template thingie from the back and look at it, it gives the paper dimensions for the envie paper based on the card size (and tells you to cut it 1/8" less on each side for flat cards) and then tells you where to score it for each size. It's AWESOME! VERY easy to use too! I just slapped the triangle thingie on there and went to it.

I've heard from many people (including a worker at Archivers) that the MS scorer is better. I especially like the envelope and box guides...my mother has one and she loves it. I'm probably going to be getting it this weekend. (Now that I'm making more cards, I definitely need to be able to make envelopes!)

Well thanks to all the repies here, I finally bought a MS scoring board with a 50% coupon at ACM. That is a good deal & I also had to try it with a scrap piece of paper. It works great.

Thanks for everything ladies! I bought the MS today with a 50% coupon at Michael's. I can't wait to make something on it. I will keep you all posted (hehe) on how it works for me.

I used my MS yesterday, and I really liked it! There's a slider/holder on the back for the envelope triangle. The scorer/bone folder goes in a flip topped container at the top of the board. There are instructions in there for the cards and envelopes too.

I just wish they'd attached the bone folder with a string or something I can't find mine to save my LIFE

anyone who wants to make 5x5 cards to mail- I just used my MS board to made up an envie- cut your paper 8.5x8.5 and score all around at 3 3/8. Good to go but know that it does cost more to mail.

a butter knife (hold it by the handle, but flip it over) works well if you ever misplace yours

a dried out ball point pen will work as well, or a mechanical pencil with the lead removed, or a paperclip (the round ends, not the pointy part)

Dawn- the other score board is older so they probably bought theirs before the MS one came out. The MS one has score lines every 1/8" and I think the other one only has them every 1/4". The MS one comes with the envelope thingie and the other one doesn't. HOWEVER, the other one is made out of wood and the little score tool is chained to the board so you don't lose it but I'm sure it's not THAT hard to do the same with the MS board. I just store my little tool in the flip thingie and I have yet to lose it. I LOVE my MS board!

Well, thanks to all your rave reviews, I just got a MS one at HL with a coupon, and I used the envelope thingy tonight! That's such a handy dandy little feature! I used mine to make an envie for an A7 card, and it was a 10" square, scored at 3-1/4, 4-1/4, 3-1/4, and 4-1/4. Makes such a pretty envelope! Love it!

Paper Wishes has 2 of them (enveloper & top score) 1 is for making envelopes and the other is for making boxes and cards I watched their video on how to use them which is on their site and I ordered them I have been wanting a scor pal since it came out but it's just so expensive and I got both of these for about $30 total. I can't wait for my order to arrive

Dawn - what a cute idea ... a box for a special card! I just got my MS scoreboard on Monday. So far I've only made a cute flower I saw posted on YouTube. Take a 12" strip of paper, cut it 1"wide and use a punch to put on a pretty edge all along the 12" side. Then you score it every 1/4" ... fold it back and forth (pleating it) ... glue the ends together and lay it out flat and arrange it and use hot glue to secure it to a 1" circle. Use whatever you want for the center, I used a button. Check it out on YouTube ... it's adorable!
