Newbie here ~ What does free cropping mean?

Hey,
I am really new at all of this and I called a local scrapbook factory and they said tomorrow they are having free cropping. What does that mean? I didn't think it meant free cropping of pictures, does it? Sorry, I feel really stupid right now.

Don't feel stupid. Scrapbooking has it's own language. A free crop is where you can go to the store, sit at their tables and work on your scrapbook pages. They might provide die cutting machines or other stuff you could use for free also. Good luck and welcome.

No it means that you can go to the store and take all or as much of your supplies as you want and do your scrapbooking in their space. Often times store make you pay for their space because you usually get to use some of their stuff like cutters ot punches or die cut machines. It is fun to go to the store to "crop" (srcapbook) because there will be a lot of other people there and you can get ideas from them and it is fun. Plus you can buy stuff at the store as you need it. I would recommend that you go becasue it is soooo much fun. And if you are a newbie I would bet tha tyou would get lots of help if you want it.

Do any of the scrapbook store s have the Cricut or Cuttlebug (whatever it's called!) for your free use?

Yep, the space is free to use but if you use any consumable supplies (papers, stickers, die cuts, etc.) those you pay for. Use of machines with your own supplies is free usually too.

I haven't seen the cricut or the cuttlebug for use for free at any store yet. Mostly have the big ol die cut thingy.

Thanks Ladies!! I dont know what type of machines, etc. they have. I am kind of lost when it comes to all of that! I only have a few hours in the morning and me and a friend are going to do some shopping for scrapbook stuff. I hope we get a chance to stop by there atleast. I know my first stop tomorrow is going to be Hobby Lobby. They have 50% off everything to do with scrapbooking, almost everything atleast.

At my scrapbook store , they have the sizzix available as well as the cricut for free use during their crops.

Micheal you can use their Cricut but is a dollar a die. I love free cropping.

My LSS has a Pazzles (sp?) system. When she made a title for me I paid 50 cents plus the cost of a sheet of cardstock (less than $1.00 total). It was so worth it to me to not have to handcut the words "First Communion" in the Pharmacy font.

A free crop??? You lucky DUCK!!! I'd jump at that. It's where you can go scrapbook for free at a store.

I have been to pay-crops, namely Archiver's Scrap Mania, and they are a blast. Archivers charges $15, you get to crop from 5-11 (or anytime in between) and they feed you dinner, a snack, and provide sodas.

Unfortunately, Archivers is about 25 miles away from me, and with gas prices the way they are, I am just not able to get to them as I'd like. Michael's doesn't offer crops; the mom-and-pop LSS a mile away from me doesn't, either, they just offer "classes." I'm going to be stuck scrapping at home for a long time, unless our LSS starts offering crops again.
