Newbie! For my bride

Hi All,

I'm completely new to scrapbooking and I have decided that I want to do one for my financee to have on our wedding morning (we are getting married in Sept) as part of her wedding present. Just with old keepsakes, romantic poems / sayings, photos, things to make her smile.

I literally do not know where to start and I'm looking for inspiration on layouts, ideas.. ETC....

Any help, ideas, links would be massively useful and I would love to keep you updated on my progress.

Because you're new to scrapbooking and because you will have your hands full with wedding preparations anyways I would suggest to take a short-cut and use a smashbook: It's basically a unlined journal made out of nice, colourful cardstock.

As you can see from the product I linked they don't sell these anymore on scrapbook.com but you can get them at amazon.

I would suggest you really check out the gallery and pick out things your like. You can do a search for weddings and probably get some ideas. There is no right or wrong way.

I would have been head-over-heels if my husband had made a nice wedding album for us! It would stay on our coffee table or if it was really personal, on my nightstand!

There are so many beautiful wedding papers and embellishments to make a beautiful album.

If there is a local scrapbook store near you, I would go there and see if you could get some guidance about what supplies you need.

I really think the best place to start is the gallery - in the wedding layouts and even other layouts. They artists often tag the supplies they used so you can get those same papers and embellishments if you want.

Since you have 8 or 9 months, that will give you time to research exactly how you want it to look. What a beautiful keepsake she will have to cherish and be proud of for years to come!

Congratulations! How wonderful that you want to make her this gift. Please consider taking this class, which, by the way, is FREE! It might be something to consider. If you have keepsakes and memrobilia it might be easier to scrapbook with pocket pages.

Marriage; what wonderful news! I am sure you have lots of things you would like to get done before the wedding.

You remind me of myself though wanting to complete a scrapbook that I could give my new husband for our first anniversary. Well to move the story along, I thought I had lots of time and it turned out I did not. In the end I worked on it day and night, almost ignoring the man I loved.

Since then I have come up with other ways to scrap in a hurry. I am going to suggest 3 ways:

(1) Go to Mixbook.com and make an electronic book by uploading your digital photos. They have lots of themes and I am sure you can find one that works.
(2) If you are a little more ambitious, go on Etsy and purchase a premade mini album and then add your own personal stuff to it. I saw a great one by BellaBoutique23; (not related/don't have a clue who this is); they called it Valentines...but with all the love and kisses in it I think it might work.
(3) Purchase an 8x8 hinge album and great pad of paper and some interesting embellishments and to it.

The 3rd one was the first one I tried. If I had it to do all over...I probably would go premade and add my own stuff. Post whatever you decide. Or you can come by my very 1st blog - I think I might post this info there also.

Thank you so much for the ideas, it's really appreciated. I'm going to look further into it later on today (if I get rid of her for an hour hah) and decide from there. Very excited about starting up, if a little overwhelmed! But I know however it turns out she will adore the effort at least lol
