Displaying cards in a scrapbook

Hi,
I've saved loads of birthday & Christmas cards etc over the years & want to include them in my scrapbooks but am not sure how to.

I don't want to cut them in any way & I want to see the back of them as well. I've thought of putting them on a page protector in my albums but I don't like the idea of people touching them!!!

I'd love to hear your ideas of how you display cards in your albums & also protect them as well.

Just a thought, if I lamanated them with archival lamination would the items be ok for quite a few years?

if i had a lot of cards i would simply make a separate album...you could have just cards (and other memorabilia) or you could have a few pictures scattered through-out. you could even separate them into categories by type of cards (bday, christmas...) or by family and friends, near and far, etc. i'm not sure how a lot of cards in a regular sb album would be...may get too bulky.

as for how...what about pockets inside page protectors? then you can take the cards out to look at without them getting handled too much.

I have this problem too. I want to make a scrapbook of my cards, but I don't want to cut them. I also want to be able to see the front and the insides of the cards, but I'm not sure how to do it since usually pages are put in the page protectors.

I have run into this issue as well and what i do is i put the card on to the scrap page then cut a thin opening in the protecter and feed the front of the card though it, that way the inside of tha card is protected and you can still see the front and inside of the card.

What if you scrapped on clear tranparency and putthe card, open on the sheet. You could see the front and back from one side and the inside when you turn the page. They would be protected in the page protector and nobody would have to handle them.

I always make a pocket on my birthday pages, and keep the cards in there. I don't make a slit or anything, I just figure if I want to look again I can take the page out.

I would agree with all the ideas here. Make a separate album and on each page make a pocket on it. That way you don't have to cut the card or use any adhesive on it.

Make one Christmas album and a birthday album. On the first page you can write what traditions that your family has for that occasion.

This was a good question. I've had issues with cards myself. I save every one I get, and am always try to figure out how to incorporate them in my books.

I do a couple things. I sew pocket pages to hold them. A pocket holds a nice amount. I also just adhere them to the birthday layout with reg scrapbook adhesive (strips, squares etc.) I have made corners to hold one so that you could take it off the page. I find that most people don't really look through the cards when looking at my pages. It is ususally me & it is easy to slide out the page to look at the card if I want. I use topload protectors. hth

If you have multiple cards, you could always use the Bind-It-All and make a completely seperate album.

In the past I was able to purchase pocket pages, hard to find now. I make a pocket now myself and slip the cards in so they can be taken out and read. Hope that helps.

Here is a layout on which I created a cute pocket. I glued two layers of cardstock together to give it some strength.
You could do facing pages having two pockets for the cards.

I have been thinking of doing a patchwork page for my son's baby album - but you would have to cut them - or you could scan and use the copies - just an idea
