Alternative for c plate

I bought some nestabilities today. Super excited. Only to find I didn't have all the necessary plates to USE the thing.
I hear they're really hard to find. I'm going to check walmart and stuff but. I also SHOULDN'T spend money anymore til next month. Sigh.
Anyone know any alternatives for a C plate. I tried a stack of paper. It did actually cut but didn't really emboss. I read online rubber gasket material or something.. works... Apparently my hubby uses this at his work so he's gonna grab me a scrap tomorrow.

The extra plates needed should come with the cuttle bug.

I recived two Bs a C and a D.

I got the newest cuttlebug and apparently it doesn't come with the c plate anymore.

Darn. I'm glad I bought the older version now.
When I bought mine C plates were available individually but they were pricey.

How about finding a dollar store plastic chopping board? The ones which are smooth on one side textured on the other.

That might work, if it's the same thickness! Can anyone tell me how thick they are?

C plate = 3/16"
B plate = 1/8"

So you only need to find 1/16" of paper etc. to go with your other B plate to make up the thickness.

The original Cuttlebug came with a C plate? I never got one...

weird. I have the original and have the C plate. I'm actually thinking of getting rid of mine and moving up to the big shot (seems sooo much sturdier). I only say that....b/c I crop at a local store, had done some research about using my sizzix texture plates in my cuddlebug. Did what others had done....the results....a boom so loud it sounded like a shotgun going off in the scrappy space at the store b/c the whole side of the bug blew out. I know I know....fine line between it being tight and TOO tight. lol now I get nervous messing around with it.... lol

They actually stopped making the C plate, so don't count on being able to find one. The C plate is only used with competitor dies, and they didn't want to cater to them anymore. Too bad IMO because that ensures I will NOT buy Provo Craft if I get a different machine.

By the way, you don't use the C plate to emboss - you use B plates and the tan Spellbinders mat (or a cheap substitute).

I bought a cutting board at the dollar store like Obi suggested but it's too thick.

Let's hope dh's rubber stuff works.

I've heard that some people have gone to home improvement or hardware stores and purchased acrylic in the size of a C plate. If you can find the right thickness, they can cut it for you to size.

I called teh store I bought the spellbinders from, to ask if they took returns. I explained the situation and she said they HAD a c plate! Lol! She put it on hold for me. 13 bucks. That makes it easier!

C plate is still available. Just got an email advertising it... they changed it, though, with the new cuttlebug... it's now 13 inches or so long.

A little off the subject, but I wish they would imprint A, B, C, etc. on those stupid plates so you would know which is which. Guess I'm going to have to get out my Sharpie!

Really? That's weird! Maybe they decided to start making them again in the extended version. I know I saw a press release several months back that said the C plates were discontinued. Oh well, that's good for us CB owners

Oh Good to know! I'll call back and check to make sure it's the longer one. I'm guessing it is, and that the older ones were discontinued, and now there are new ones.

You might want to try a foam sheet cut to size. They cost only about $1 for a 12" x 18" sheet. (I think that's the size). Not sure if it will work, but it's worth a try.

I have the older cuttlebug. It came with an A sheet, 2 B sheets, and a C sheet. All of them are labelled, and they are the original short size.

Today I saw a set of long sheets (1 A, 2 Bs, 1 C) selling for $45. That's a lot of money. They're coming out with more 12" embossing folders. I have the long butterfly folder, but it can work by running it through twice with the short sheets.

By the way, I use a Brother labeller with black on clear tapes to label all my cuttlebug folders. It's a good way of keeping track of them. I also press out a sample paper of each folder and place them in a loose-leaf binder, 4 to a page, and write the name under each one.

Susy, when we were talking about the plates in PM it was the long ones for $25 that I asked about. Hopefully you it is the long ones for the price you were told, not sure if where we were talking about will have the smaller size or not.
