Fiskars Border Punch

Had a question on them, I see so many wonderful and beautiful layouts using the border punch and I was wondering if people use cardstock? I ask because when I first started scrappin' my first few punches were fiskars and they did not get along well w/my cardstock - at all, both my corner and border punches broke within the first month!

Now I am wondering if maybe I did something wrong or if only certain types of paper or cardstock perform better than others? The three I have referenced I am just loving on the layouts I see here, but I use mostly cardstock and uncertain if they could take the regular use w/that.

Now mind you when I bought those punches, it was a while ago, they were the blue/orange ones. Maybe they have changed?

I use mine with heavy cardstock all the time, never had a problem with them

Bazzill, prism, AC Cardstock...these are much better than the older punches.

I have used mine with Bazzil card stock and never had a problem.

In fact, the punches work better with cs or heavy pp. They don't work as well with really lightweight paper.

The less intricate the punch, the easier it is to operate, in general. Apron Lace, for example, is super easy to punch.

I use mine on thick CS with no issues. I had some of the older ones at one point, too. These are made much better and sturdier, IMO.

Thanks so much for your help guys! I was kinda thinking maybe they are sturdier, and now I know! I really have to get some now, those borders are just gorgeous and I have gotten all I am going to get on the EK Success ones. I adore so many of the Fiskars punches but stayed away for my op reason, may have to re-think it!

I will put in a major pro for fiskars customer service, since I mentioned the first ones I bought broke. I did write them, and sent the punches as proof, about a month later I rec'd compensastion equal to the retail of the punches, but I bought the scissors and paper trimmer w/it instead of the punches LOL

I'm not a fan of fiskars punches and neither is my best friend. We were just talking about that this weekend. The best punches are the EK Success and Martha Stewart. They are much easier to use and don't seem to break like the fiskars brand.

Fiskars will replace anything they make if you brake them. Sometimes you need to punch foil or waxpaper, if they are sticking. This will help. As I have been told, you do not have to send in the broken tool, but just a photo.

As of the other brands, I have head the same as not working correctly, or braking. I heard of people using MS's branches so much they broke it.

I've never had a problem either and I've even dropped mine and had it break and put it back together and it still worked!

I have Fiskars, MS and CM's.. they all work great!!!

I also have a bunch of punches don't have problems with any brand on cardstock or patterned paper.

I've had punches from years ago that barely worked after the first time and never on cs. Now they are pretty realiable on any paper. I just fell in love with the newer MS punch around the page punches. Absolutely terrific!!! I have the double loop one...

The ones I have do seem to work better on stiffer paper like cardstock. The only punches I have had problems with are my marvy circle punches.

I've lately had issues with my Marvy Uchida scalloped circle punches sticking lately as well... I'm going to get some tin foil and try it tonight, see how it goes.

I agree the heavier the paper the better they cut. I also use foil and wax paper to get them to work smoother.
